LOL at Beck and Faux News

But an estimate commissioned by CBS News, using aerial photography, put attendance at between 78,000 and 96,000. ABC News reported more than 100,000, while Fox -- and Beck -- estimated it at above half a million.

Gee Fox News reporting the crowd 5-7 times higher than everyone else. Totally shocking. Fair and balanced my ass.

I miss the days when "news" was just fucking news. This happened. That happened. It's getting to be enough sensationalism to choke an elephant, culminating in this Glenn Beck shit. It's like even IF a million people went to it, I don't care because they'd be a million fucking stupid people...Glenn Beck is such a joke it's not even funny, and I'm CENTRIST and say that.

NBC est 300k

Washington officials do not make crowd estimates, but NBC News estimated the turnout at 300,000, while Mr. Beck offered a range of 300,000 to 650,000. By any measure it was a large turnout.

Personally, I don't think a high turnout rate at a Glenn Beck speech is something Americans should be proud of.

I don't mind pundits on news stations so long as they are limited and they are presented as such. For example, when CNN had Lou Dobbs on his show always started off by saying it was news and opinion. They made it pretty clear that these were his thoughts and not presented as hard news.

But these days more and more pundits are on the news and they are presented as actual news casters. Not to mention stations like Fox news seem to be mostly made up of pundits so it is harder and harder to just get straight news.

As for Beck. . . all I can say about him is that he might be one of the best salesmen in the world. His message changes constantly, he is always contradicting himself, yet week in and week out he gets viewers to tune in and to buy his books and play right along with him.

He reminds me of Dr. Phil in a lot of ways. Both of these guys didn't find real success until later in life so now that they have it they will endorse anything and do anything to cash in while they can.

All the proceeds(over 5 million dollars) went to the Special Operations Warrior Foundation which provides funds for schooling and special needs for children of soldiers who have died or have severe disabilities.

What have you done for the world lately GatorB?

25% of Americans are flat out insane. They will believe anything no matter what it is. If you give them a little bit of encouragement, they will almost kill for their insane beliefs.

If you play to them, you'll have the most loyal following you could ever dream of.

Politicians are starting to figure this out as well. With voter turn out of around 45%, if you capture the "insane" voters, you will win.

Our Democracy is starting to be controlled by the insane 25% of the population because media outlets and politicians are finding that pandering to them is the most successful business model. It's not really a Republican or Democrat thing anymore. It's the insane versus the rational. Rational people don't sit and listen to radio hosts for hours a day to get fired up and email propaganda videos back and forth all day long, so they are less passionate.

Nobody will show up to a "common sense" rally that promotes rational, pragmatic solutions....lol.

This is the problem. As far as I am concerned you shouldn't be considered a news source/channel/outlet if all you have is opinions from some douche who gets ratings.

News is passing on accurate information about what happened or is currently happening, not some random dickhead's opinion about it.

The way I see it, most of the population doesn't care one way or the other. Only about 60% of those eligible to vote actually do. Of them, most of them are not very politically active and are what I call 1-2 issue voters. For example, I saw people interviewed who thought Obama was a better choice and that McCain would not be a very good president, but they were voting for McCain because he was pro-life. These aren't people who sit and listen to Beck and Limbaugh all day, these are people who choose the pro-life candidate and vote for him/her. The same can be said for the other side. There are people who vote for someone because they are pro-choice. There were plenty of people who didn't vote for Obama because he is a "socialist" and because he was bailing out the banks. They didn't stop to think that it was a republican who started the bail outs. They also didn't want to "share the wealth" yet they had no trouble cashing the stimulus checks that Bush sent them.

Most people look around at their lives and see how they feel. If they have a decent job, a decent house and a decent life, then they tend to end up being 1-2 issue voters and pick a guy because of his stance on guns or abortion or religion or whatever. They don't really want change.

This type of attitude is what allows the radical edges of a party to control things. The evangelical Christians have basically controlled the republican party and helped them control the white house for 20 of the last 30 years. They also helped them control the senate for 12 of the last 15.5 years. They have the power because they organize and vote so they control which candidates end up on the tickets which gives them a very good chance of having someone that favors them in power.

That has changed. The evangelicals are turning away from the republicans. They feel like the republican party sold them out during Bush's terms because they promised a lot and delivered very little so they have stated they are no longer voting for people based on party affiliation alone. Around 18% of evangelicals voted for Obama. Right now we are seeing the republicans scramble to put together a new base. This time it seems they are going to go with the angry white people, the extremists and the misinformed.

She is a stirring speaker.

As she rattles on my mind wanders off. Like what color her underwear is? Is she wearing underwear? Does she like the taste of cum? Is she into threesomes? Does she like lesbian porn?

You don't have to be that smart to get a good idea of how many people where there just going by a few pictures. I'm sure in the coming weeks there will be a lot of photo analysis being done to compare Becks event with past ones to get an idea of a solid number.

Crowd estimates used to be provided by the National Park Service, but the agency stopped counting crowds in 1997 after being accused of underestimating the size of the Million Man March in 1995...once again the hard left political correctness runs a muck.

There where no appearance fees and all expenses where paid for out of Becks own pocket, you can download all the pdf's of the checks he has written from Mercury Radio Arts off his website if you're a premium member.

Do you think any of them are close to being accurate? I'm just curious if there's any honesty in news anymore, or if it's all bias. I'm assuming that at some point in our lives, the news was accountable.
