Thanx for not directing this at me, but I have to ask that, because really, there's no difference between hunting ammo and defense ammo,at least no clear line.
If you have a 44 mag in your house with hollow points, it works great for home invaders and wild pigs.
Police ammo is usually dependent on what the cop likes, most are light loads so that that don't travel far.
I had a FFL for a few years and saw some of the ammo that you can get out there, lead is the last thing anyone should worry about, like a shot gun round filled with Magnesium, the friction in the air ignites the pellets and makes the shot gun into a flame thrower

If you don't know the lead bullet and shot controversy has been an issue in teh hunting community for many years, you're clearly no hunter.

And there is a HUGE difference between hunting ammo, target ammo, and defense and police ammo, as any gun handler knows.

About the only common crossover is buckshot, but buckshot is really a defense round, not many actually shoot deer with buckshot anymore.

Not many ever did shoot deer with buckshot...and in most...if not all states that would be illegal.

not legal for hunting deer in my state anymore, tho it was when I was younger. It's sold here for defense alone. It's a bad deerkiller anyway, too likely to wound.

I hear some shoot coyote with it, under the varmint exemptions, but I'm not sure that's legal.

a rifled slug was and is always more effective, if you shotgun deer. My first was with a rifled slug.

based on my reading of that article, it sounded to me like it was about lead shot alone, and may not even have included bullets. and the proposed ban was basically intended to protect the top predators, had nothing to do with target or defense ammo and shooting.

If that's case and it only covers lead shot, well get with the fucking program, that's been law up here for a few years. Lead shot has been outlawed because it is primarily used while wingshooting. A bunch of lead laying at the bottom f your wetlands isn't exactly a great thing.

I have a scar from the scope of a 30.06 hitting me at the age of 10 and I'm probably older than you. I still own that 30.06, took off the scope. Never got into the special ammo thing , what I used for hunting, I use for target practice because then you know how that round behaves. The stuff I put in pistols for target shooting is the same thing I would use to go pig hunting.
It's like going to the range and someone would ask me why I put the bayonet on the M1 carbine, the answer is it shoots differently, better, so why change?
