I see they are now protecting videos from being directly accessed or downloaded, great move now most other tubes will be forced to embed or search for other sources.

LOL you guys are all tube noobs, THEY DONT ALLOW ANYONE TO DOWNLOAD THEIR MOVIES.

Only embeds are available, you used to be able to download ANY movie on Xvideos.com - which was a MAJOR video source for most secondary tubes.

Since Xvideos.com BLOCKED direct downloading of their .flv files and only allow embeds no other tubes can RIP them from Xvideos.

Get it? Which means LESS TUBES.

This should be obvious, but if they're doing it, it's probably so they can save ad revenue money. Why let someone download a file and watch it at home when they can simply have the user return to their site over and over again, viewing their ads every time they come back?

Let me sum it up for you all:

Less downloads means lower bandwidth bill means more money in the pockets of the owners. Surfers will still stream, but when doing a cost-benefit analysis of traffic lost to money saved, it probably made sense to do this.

Allowing downloads but merely removing the download links hedges the bet by making downloads still accessible to the avid collectors who will figure out how to do it.

It doesn't even take a special piece of software. It takes a free Firefox plug-in. It is still as easy to download videos from that site as if there were a direct download link.
