Mafia 2 Mother Fucker

For anyone into games this is a big one. It will launch on the 24th and I am really hoping that it will live up to the first game which was incredible in it's day.

Never played the first one... Though Kingpin was an incredible game for it's time when it came out a few years before Mafia, they're probably pretty similar

I loved kingpin as well but mafia was different. More in the style of GTA.

The first one was just a classic. Simply stunning. Especially if you're hardcore into the whole Mafia culture. I preordered the 2nd one a few weeks ago. Can't wait.

Ok so I am a few hours into the game now and it looks promising so far. Incredible graphics and animations and the story is just taking off. The mafia atmosphere and general atmosphere is just amazing when you arrive in the big apple. General gameplay is great with decent controls. Gun gameplay is good but the auto-aim is kind of iffy sometimes, car driving feels sturdy but weird, like you're driving a really old car I guess.

All in all so far it's a great game but I hope it will take off and reach that higher level.

That's what made the game shit? The fact that you're unable to comprehend the type of vehicles that existed during Prohibition? That's what made the game realistic and amazing.

It's got nothing to do with comprehension, and I realize vehicles back then were slower. However, it got quite boring for me when I had to drive 10-15 minutes each way to do a mission. I want to play a game, not experience the 20s in real time.

Yeah, but if I were to wait around for a good one to show up (and they were few and far between), i'd be waiting another 15 minutes per trip thus negating the time the faster car saves me.

I am right there with ya, Duck.

The first installment of the game was so good that my ex-gf at the time practically watched me play through the entire thing and would get pissed if I played it without her present.

As for the speed of some of the cars, the game wasn't about simply getting to the mission destination. There were numerous side stops to explore and play around with that would give beneficial bonuses.

The depth of interaction in that game was epic, for sure. Won't order my copy until next month though.

If a game is breathtaking, I don't care about finishing it fast. For instance, I consider Assassins Creed II to be the greatest, most revolutionary game ever made. IT took me a month to beat that game because I did ALL the missions and I took it slow to look at the scenery. Maybe that's just me but the faster I want to beat a game, the worse it is.

I played the demo yesterday. The controls and camera angles are not good at all. Especially compared to the fluidity of lets say Red Dead Redemption. I am sure the story is cool and the graphics are great. I just wish the controls felt more up to date with this generation of games. In order for games to make it, the developers are really going to have to step up.

I enjoyed Mafia 1 for a little while but I did get tired of driving all over the place at 25 MPH.

Red Dead Redemption is the same but on horseback, strangely the scenery and the random encounters make the trips kind of fun though.

I hope the travel time doesn't ruin Mafia 2, I bought a new monitor just for that game.

Lol you finished it in 2 days ?!

Is it a simple single player or does it have a multiplayer mod?

While I am not a big fan of AC 2 (it's a great game just not my cup of tea) I agree with your point in that playing games with a slower pace often gives you a better experience. I did the same with mass effect 2, just slowly crawled my way through the game and had a blast throughout.
