YES, they absorb CO2 and release CO2.. Just as plants absorb CO2 and release CO2...

Co2 is the magic gas that makes plants grow

Total CO2 put out by all other sources every year:

220 gigatonnes -- Respiration by vegetation

How hard is that to understand? Quit with your childish name calling and prove otherwise..

What happens if we GAS IT UP? How about 1000x current?

In human subjects exposed to low concentrations (less than 4 percent) of carbon dioxide for up to 30 minutes, dilation of cerebral blood vessels, increased pulmonary ventilation, and increased oxygen delivery to the tissues were observed (Gibbs et al. 1943, Patterson et al. 1955). These data suggest that carbon dioxide exposure can aid in counteracting effects (i.e., impaired brain function) of exposure to an oxygen-deficient atmosphere

Whats happening to most of the CO2?

      Oceans Absorbed Missing CO2

"The ocean has removed 48 percent of the CO2 we have released to the atmosphere from burning fossil fuels and cement manufacturing," Sabine said after reviewing data gathered between 1989 and 1998 from three major studies of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans. The studies collected more than 72,000 ocean samples.

      Why does CO2 rise?

CO2 rises always follow the warming up of the earth

      Why is it rising?

Because the Earth is starved for it. Nature is correcting itself.. Man's contribution is only helping..

Co2 is the magic gas that makes plants grow

Now if you were someone who wanted less life (humans) on Earth you would sell them on this myth that they are killing themselves by producing what naturally exudes from them in an attemt to cut back on carbon emissions in turn kill off the food which feeds them. Along with other means such as vaccines/eugenics, geneticly modifying their food, etc

PROBABILITY 101: hypothetically assume that a child in a particular third world country has a 70% chance of dying before adulthood and a 30% chance of survival until adulthood. People in the 3rd world ensure that their family survives for another generation by having more kids, e.g. if one family has 3 kids probabiltity they all dont reach adulthood is around 34% (0.7^3). Hence, better vaccines= better survival odds= less population, since fewer kids are needed to ensure a new generation.

Look just face it ... we have been conditioned to believe we are warming the planet so that we can be taxed trillions of dollars a year.

This is all about money .. nothing else.

You are not being taxed on fossil fuels?

          Taxes aren't everything.

Technology is one of the few sectors first world countries still have an advantage over emerging countries like China or Brazil. Why wouldn't they push for greener products when, by owning the technology, it ensures first world countries still lead the way?

That has nothing to do with my comment.

Just because we are taxed on something, doesn't make huge new taxes in a similar area a good idea... especially when it is going to influence the price of everything. This is a money grab and nothing else. Don't fool yourself. .. a few people/organisations are going to get VERY VERY rich once this tax is rammed through.

It has everything to do with it.

              You even answered yourself.

It will make those who own the technology rich. US organizations. China can't compete in clean tech.

So why wouldn't they want to ram it through?

"They may be deep and wide, but the world’s oceans are bearing a heavy load: they absorb one third of the carbon produced by human industry. As a result they’re turning into acidic bathtubs. As water warms, it expands, hence the rising sea levels."

"The Gulf and the rest of the world's waters also face the uncertain and potentially devastating effects of climate change. Warming ocean temperatures reduce the water's oxygen content, and rising atmospheric carbon dioxide is altering the basic chemistry of the ocean, making it more acidic. There is no shortage of evidence that both of these effects have begun to wreak havoc on certain important creatures."
                    http://www.ouramazingplanet.com/eart...tinction-0385/

"Human use of fossil fuels is altering the chemistry of the atmosphere; oceans are polluted and depleted of fish; 80% of Earth's forests are heavily impacted or gone yet their destruction continues. An estimated 50,000 species are driven to extinction each year. We dump millions of tonnes of chemicals, most untested for their biological effects, and many highly toxic, into air, water and soil.
We have created an ecological holocaust. Our very health and survival are at stake, yet we act as if we have plenty of time to respond."

                    http://www.davidsuzuki.org/blogs/pan...lihood-awards/

"The simultaneous decrease in ocean oxygen not only threatens the survival of aerobic marine organisms, but is symptomatic of the slow-down in the ocean’s thermohaline ‘conveyor belt’ circulation system that transports heat from the tropics to the poles, overturns surface layers of into the deep and vice versa, redistributing nutrients and gases for the ocean biosphere, and regulating rainfall and temperatures on the landmasses. Changes to the thermohaline could wipe out the ocean’s phytoplankton that’s ultimately responsible for splitting water to regenerate oxygen for the entire biosphere, on land and in the sea."
                    http://www.carbonoffsetsdaily.com/ne...says-10954.htm

"One of the most dramatic results of the relentless rise in marine pollution is the increase in both the number and size of ocean dead zones. Dead Zones, by Reyes Tirado and published by Greenpeace in 2008 defines ocean dead zones as areas of the ocean which have been depleted of oxygen."

Yeah, yeah, yeah, but how is paying additional taxes on everything and dictating every facet of everyone's life going to do anyone any good? That is outside of allowing a bunch of $8 an hour tree huggers to run around doing the dictating and some fat cats to get richer.

they must be using some shitty solar panels. My parents have 7 that run everything in the house except for the fridge and stove. TV, computer, stereo, lights. Seriously, everything. Its pretty nice to not have an electric bill every month.

When someone says "solar takes too long to pay off", just ask them to tell you how many years they had to pay their electric company before the company called them up and told them to stop paying for their power. How long does that take anyway? 3 or 4 generations? Oh.. never? that sucks..

But the monthly charge keeps getting less and less, right? Oh.. it doesnt? It actually gets more and more? Fuck.

oh well, I guess I'll jam my fingers in my ears and say LA LA LA LA because EVERYONE knows that solar doesnt work.
