nothing wrong with a change, but seriously, there's nothing wrong with porn either, don't feel so guilty! i've been in this industry a long time and i remember having those feelings when i first started. It was hard to tell friends and family at first until I accomplished enough to be proud of what I'd done. You've been around awhile, you should dig deep and find a way to deal with any issues and overcome any guilt you may have about being in the industry cuz even once you leave it, that guilt will stay with you unless you deal with it.

As for ideas, it's a tough economy for a career change, good luck! My mainstream stuff has done pretty well by using the same skillset I use in porn to promote and create graphics and websites, so there's one idea to utilize your existing skills and branch away from porn (see sig for my branches). Another idea is to perhaps use the money you've made to open up a restaurant, something that everyone can afford, people still have to eat, it uses your degree somewhat and it's not too expensive a venture to start. Make good food, find the right location and you can make a good living.

Good luck but please porn doesn't make you stupid and there's nothing wrong with it.

You sniveling little baby. If you didn't feel proud of what you do then why did you do it in the first place? What a great example that is setting for your friends and family.

I am proud of what I do and I don't have any problem telling people what I do. I have children and they are not ashamed of me, nor do I have any problem with their friends or their friends parents. Just that fact that you feel shame about it shows that you are just as ridiculously hypocritical and stuck in that ridiculous self loathing anti-sex rhetoric as all the worst critics of this industry.

Why don't you make a living with Donny now selling anti porn lectures to church groups, loser.

What was the point of your lame post anyway? Want a fuzzy pink attaboy or something? I guess if it makes all the other ashamed and conflicted people in agreement with you leave the industry too then you just did us all a huge favor.

I am sorry. I should be thanking you.

1. get a VERY well-done resume written, a professional one, you can disguise your adult work by using generic terms highlighting your skill set and experience.
shop your resume around online and also network with family and friends to see what's out there.

2. try and apply the skills and experience you gathered working in adult and apply it to a new business/product/service that combines your skills of hotel bar work and adult.

good luck!

This is a great tip. I was going to say something similar but will only add: try using your 'web' skills to transition into mainstream. Give yourself a 1 year goal. Setting a time limit - and knowing you'll be done BY SUCH AND SUCH A DATE - helps ease the tension. You can see a light at the end of the tunnel. Trying to just quit and do something else is like stopping on a dime. You've devoted a decade of your life to this so take some time to process what life would be like without it and give yourself some time to adapt.

Good luck! :)

I love porn but I hate the porn business.

It's a damn shame some of you just won't pay me to watch it all day.

Porn has allowed me to live the life I've always wanted to live. No real complaints.

my bet is that once you work in a real job for a week or 2, you will realize that this wasn't so bad... :2 cents:

Dirty Lord 08-17-2010 07:17 AM

hahahahaha, i wanna

This biz wears on everyone. You need to put it in perspective. The only thing that can justify something you loathe is money. If you're making real money, my advice would be to suck it up. If you are in the 500 bucks a week club I'd hang it up. It has to be worth it to you.

i'm not terribly proud of it but i'm not unproud of it either. when i do a good job of something I feel good, whether it's cleaning a toilet or making a webpage.

Mutt, why do you now have pedobear next to the Jewel gif? Is there something we should know about Jewel's age?
