Quick! What's for dinner on a FUCKING hot day?

It's been stupid hot here in Vancouver for a couple of days now. I thought I took steaks out of the freezer but it turned out to be stewing beef. Obviously I'm not cooking a beef stew on a day like this!

What are your favourite recipes for the dog days of summer when it's just too hot to think about turning on the oven?

simple tomato and onion salad ...

            per person:
            2 roma tomatos
            1 small onion (sliced)
            2 spoons of (herbal) vinegar
            2 spoons of sunflower oil
            (garlic if you like it)
            salt
            freshly ground black pepper
            a lil bit of sugar

served with white bread (and if you like it, some goat cheese)
sounds like diet food eh? lol, i love it

Yeah I hear ya, I haven't been eating nearly as much because everything I like requires turning on the stove, oven. I am also in Vancouver

I cut the chicken breast into chunks before I fry it, so it cooks faster. Then I make a cobb salad usually.

Salads are obviously one of the most refreshing things, however they usually aren't filling enough so I end up having to cook up some chicken.

I can't deal with heat If our summer heat lasted a little longer, I would probably break down and get an A/C

I just go out for sushi alot more lately. Cold Salmon Sashimi is one of the most refreshing foods

I remember living in Vancouver, had a condo downtown. When I first moved in during the winter, I remember thinking that floor to ceiling windows were awesome.

                                  Then summer came...

Marinate some salmon in maple syrup then grill on the BBQ. Or grill some jumbo shrimp and eat with garlic butter. Cold lobster is great on a hot day too. (I'm on a seafood rant, lol).

Best summer salad for me is Caprese, but I make it with cherry tomatoes sliced in half, and then use the tiny bocconcini balls with fresh basil. A little balsamic and olive oil to finish it off... perfect!

I love a light salad with diced cucumbers, tomatos and bermuda onions topped with oregano and accompany that with a nice piece of grilled salmon.

Yesterday we had a big summer feed with a group of friends. Had assorted salads, corn, french bread with dip, corn on the cob, and some coldcuts. blueberry pie and vanilla ice cream afterwards. lots of wine and light beer. awesome summer feast. I'm not big on eating a shitload of heavy food on a hot day.
