Is it actually possible to sell domains these days?

I don't own any million-dollar .com's, but I have a handful of pretty nice 2-word and/or catchy-sounding domains and a few more I want to register. Do people really still buy domains or is it to the point now where everyone just makes up a few words or throws a couple of numbers on the end?

(Assuming people still buy domains second-hand) where is a good place to market adult-themed domains? Does eBay really work for this sort of thing?

Opinions and information appreciated.

Thanks,
SpaceAce

Domains mean nothing anymore. It's what you do with it that makes it worthy.

thats partly true, but if your developing a site you want something that is brandable and very easy to remember.

I would rather have domains with hot keywords than catchy sounding.

Google gives a little ++ for keywords in the domains

Type in domains are always good.

You can try to sell them at:
esedo.com
ebay.com
idotnames.com
afternic.com

among others...

Good Luck

Ive sold around $15k worth of domains from gfy and ars boards..... (type-in domains mostly).

Spaceace, you might wanna post your domains here. Incidently, I buy domains as much as I sell em (but im only buying non-adult these days).

I hadn't considered posting them here. I see people do that and get blasted for spam all the time

I don't know, I am not sure if any of them get more than a small handful of type-ins (as in a few per day). Mostly, they are just amusing domain names that would brand well.

Thats okay most people dont.... ive hardly got any left myself. Theyre just in too much demand. Having said that, good brandable names are worthwhile too. Well if you wanna sell em theres no harm in posting.

From my experience, a lot of GFY often scout for domain bargains on the board though they'd rather post negative appraisals of them (because it can be more fun in some ways).

I buy them when they're good and *reasonably* priced. I don't think posting them here is spam.

Thanks for the insights, everyone.

greentea, these are _mostly_ adult names, but some of them could go either way. I also have some programs I wrote that track down expired domains with Yahoo/Google/etc listings. Maybe I should crank that bad boy up, again.

If you have good domains we'd buy them. As long as it doesn't have Arab in them ;)

Kidding aside, post here if you have something good. Most we ever paid was $125000 for a domainname.

Most typein domain buyers have a very low ROI tolerance. Ours is higher so we generally pay more. So if anyone here has typein domains they want to sell contact me.

Typeins only.
