Any suggestions for things to do in La Jolla with my kids?

Specifically things to do in La Jolla - no Sea World/San Diego Zoo, etc

    Thanks in advance!

LegoLand, off of the I-5 near Carlsbad.

Wild Animal Park, east of Escondido

Belmont Park, off of South Mission BL, west of Sea World (roller coaster and other fun rides).

I guess it depends upon the ages of the children. Disney land is only a little over an hour's drive north of LaJolla.

The dolphins are out in force today at Pacific Beach and Mission Beach.

Didn't he say specifically things to do in La Jolla?

In La Jolla, walk down to the lifeguard tower along the water and go out on the walkway that extends into the ocean and check out the seals and the great view. You could go down to La Jolla shores beach and rent a kayak, there's a great route along the shoreline. You could also try surfing lessons there depending on the ages of your children. From La Jolla shores, drive just a couple minutes north to Birch Aquarium , the kids will love it.

There is the beach in La Jolla where they can see the sealions. Good for 5 minutes of attention for kids.

Seals down by the cover are great fun. If your kids are big enough get some masks and snorkels and go down to the cover and get in the water. Shallow for the first part and filled with fish to watch

The cove at La Jolla is a wildlife preserve, no taking of fish or animals is permitted and the cove is full of nice animals to see.

I was just going to say you could go up to the glider port and watch or even partake. I don't remember what it costs, but you can pay for "rides."

No rides but I think we'll go there too!

I used to live near there, Seal beach is cool. The diving is alright (if you like kelp beds and cold water)

Stingray Shuffle won't stop a jelly fish

I wouldn't take kids to the beach... La Jolla has been invaded by jelly fish and stingrays. If you go... make sure you do the stingray shuffle walking in any depth of water However, that won't stop a jelly fish ...And as I write this, I see there's been another shark sighting in La Jolla today... That's a good ol' La Jolla hat trick. ...Trifecta! Speaking of Trifectas! Do your kids like ponys? ...Take them to the Del Mar race track for the horse races! Show em a Del Mar Trifecta!

Do NOT go into the water at either the LaJolla Cove or the LaJolla Shores beaches -- the news today is reporting that lifeguards have two credible sightings of Great White sharks being spotted between those two beaches and the nearby pier.

                                                        Be careful!
