Pretty much what he just said. European market is very different than the NA market.

In europe, dialers are king. Why? Simple. Phone cost a fortune, so to pay for the phone bill, PLUS the internet is crazy. You can use a dialer and end up paying LESS in some places.

Also, cams. CAMS CAMS CAMS.

We actually do a large chunk of sales in Europe. So much that we actually opened a UK distribution center for our products. I'm not sure how well content does, but you're welcome to give us a try as an alternative.

One thing about Europe, is that most people would prefer a site in their own language.

Kim Holland is a Dutch sponsor.

Alll sites available in 3 versions - English German and Spanish, and they have an automatic language detector, which sends surfers to the correct tour.

requires a different marketing approach. Just look at difference
in TV commercials US commercials would never work in Europe
Same goes for porn

Europeans not having/willing to use credit cards is bullshit
at laest for western european countries. Some countries
dialers work well because of the fact that it´s regulated by law
Dialers in Europe are not comparable with US dialers the cheating
stories therefor don´t apply to most of the European dialers.

Americans have just come up with that bullshit stories that EU
don´t use creditcards or that it´s a dead market.....

Because Americans can´t make money in Europe that doesn´t
mean there is no market.....

Richard I know how to do that myself in php....inlcuding querying
the ripe/arin/sarin database periodically to check the networks.

I would be interested in buying geographic filterred traffic...if
you can provide this we should talk.

That is a fact... Spanish people DO NOT want to use their credit cards... period..

I do not know about Germany UK France..etc.. but in Spain Im sure that dialers rule..

You are right about spain.....but the topic was Europe not Spain.
I´m Dutch but live in Spain...I also mentioned the dialers as being
regulated....Spain is a good example for that.

I agree with what you say, because we actually have a lot of business in europe. While our branch concentrates on the NA market, we're already well established in europe (different brand) and we use dialers. Solely dialers and we're doing very well. Credits cards are used there, but when dialers work so well, it's useless to do it. Most of our sales are done through it.

About 30% of my sales are in Europe, some days more, all with credit cards. Almost all rich western Europe countries - U.K, France, Germany, also Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, etc.

Thats for an all English site with no special marketing towards Europe - I can probably do even better if I actually tried to sell to them.

, based on somewhat limited experiences:

Europe can work very well, but there are certain points to note:

1. you need to appear somewhat local:
- payment processing according to country specifics
- language (not must in all countries, but usually more south you go, more important the local language becomes)
- country specific content. This is a hard one, but majority of people like mostly people who look like themselves (race / looks wise). Swedish are not same as Finnish. Greek are not Italians. Etc.

2. you need to educate surfers a little bit more
(much more "virgin traffic" here in Europe)

And for other stuff, mostly the same stuff that should be universal, applies to Europe as well. Some stuff can be more important in Europe.

- be honest
- be honest
- make payment processing and canceling appear "trustworthy"
- respect the customer
- be honest
