    Government continues to shrink

Pentagon belt-tightening will cut thousands of jobs - Aug 2010
Gates to shut major command in Va. that employs 5,000 people

    [BACKLINKED]

WASHINGTON ? Defense Secretary Robert Gates said Monday that tough economic times require that he shutter a major command that employs some 5,000 people around Norfolk, Va., and begin to eliminate other jobs throughout the military.

The announcement was the first major step by Gates to find $100 billion in savings in the next five years. Gates says that money is needed elsewhere within the Defense Department to repair a force ravaged by years of war and to prepare troops for the next fight.

Nice continued steady reduction of government. No more need to wish for that I guess. Seems like with the mass job cuts they did last month, and the ongoing reduction, we'll be down to a conference room and a box of Krispy Kremes in no time.

Maybe someone over there finally realized we're $52,972,540,113,678,201,338,224.03 in debt.

well, that's just great, cutting jobs instead of canceling a couple cruise missiles getting built.

Maybe they could start by shrinking some of the 700ish US military bases that are in 130 countries around the world.

Think of the government like a pile of shrunken heads. The more heads are shrunken, the larger the pile gets... shrinking and growing at the same time.

If we adopt a policy of crushing the skulls like Skynet does, would just be a fine layer of powder instead of a pile.

You think the phrase "more heads are shrunken" is grammatically correct?

                            Good enough for government purposes.
