    How easy is it to get your own merchant account?

    I'm based in the UK, and looking at possibility of getting my own merchant account. How easy is this? Anyone have any great links?

      As I recall it was just a lot of paperwork. Don't recall it being that difficult

            1. Not every bank accepts adult businesses so you are limited to start with.
            2. Some groups don't have the credit history in place to be accepted.
            3. Another reason is that 3rd party providers provide such tools as reporting, affiliate systems, 24/7phone and email support etc. that some groups do not want to handle themselves.

            So, to answer your question there are many reason that some groups do not have merchant accounts or want merchant accounts.

              7 years ago when i got my 1st merch account my credit was junk and my corp bank account was days old.

                  I would say yes and that the banks seem to be getting stricter with whom and what they accept for new merchant accounts today versus 7 years ago.
