Can I reinstall IE under XP? If so, how? (It is starting to crash my computer when I have too many windows opened.)

Here is a web page that will help you. http://www.theeldergeek.com/repair_r...e_and_oe_6.htm Follow all steps for ie6, not outlook.. And my professional advise, do NOT install sp1 on wxp unless you are having trouble. |

Speaking of sp1... I haven't put on sp1 on xp yet but now there are two critical updates waiting for me:
- Windows XP Service Pack 1 (Express)* Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1) provides the latest security, reliability, and performance updates to the Windows XP family of operating systems. Windows XP SP1 is designed to ensure Windows XP platform compatibility with newly released software and hardware, and includes updates to resolve issues discovered by customers or by Microsoft's internal testing team. The maximum download size is approximately 30 MB, however the size of the download and time required may be less for computers that have had updates previously installed. To minimize the download time needed for installation, setup will only download those files which are required to bring your computer up to date. Windows XP SP1 includes Internet Explorer 6 SP1. Anti-virus software programs may interfere with the installation of Windows XP SP1. Please disable anti-virus software while installing the service pack. Microsoft recommends installing SP1 because it includes many of updates to help keep your computer secure. Once you have installed the service pack you should check back for additional updates. - Q329834: Security Update (Windows XP) This update resolves the "Unchecked Buffer in PPTP Implementation Could Enable Denial of Service" security vulnerability in Windows XP and Windows XP Service Pack 1 (SP1). Download now to prevent an attacker from disrupting service on a server that offers private networking and uses the PPTP protocol. Notice the blurb about sp1 in the 2nd update... Should I not install that without first installing sp1? |

amber438,
Thanks for the great link. I'll post a bit of what the link shows. This is awesome to run on an unstable system: Quote:
...still running, and even if this is not the problem, this is a very cool tool. |

Not sure if it worked out... I came back to my computer and there was no messages at all! I guess nothing was wrong... which means that reinstall IE6.0 will not help solve these weird crashes, right?

doesnt mean nothing was wrong, hun
reboot and restart ie6 if it still has problems, you must do the uninstall/reinstall part so far, if I'm not mistaken, you have just done the system file check, making sure all system files are ok |

You are not mistaken, that is exactly all I have done. I'll see if this fixes the problem. Thanks for the tip!
