Everyone tells me that Manila is very dangerous. Thats the one thing that has kept me out of there. Too many bad stories.Comment

If you need fast internet, go to Singapore, Hong Kong or Kuala Lumpur. Lot's of great hotels, shopping and other things to do. Very safe. 1000 to 2000 $ a week should be sufficient :-)Comment

I read a book that said "don't travel to Bangkok."Send me an email: [email protected]Comment

How fast internet do you need?
Thailand is a decent option, I do not have any experiences with Philippines or Vietnam but from what I have heard Vietnam is probably not the best idea.
Pattaya is all about whoring and drinking. you can have a good time for $4K a month but if whoring is not your number one priority I would go to Cha Am/Hua Hin or down south if you need a beach if you do not need a beach Chiang Mai is an option. Just be aware that in any major tourist spot in Thailand you are going to pay 5 x times what the locals do for everything.Truth TellerComment

manila or bangkok if cost is an issue. singapore if it is not. true manila is dangerous, but so too can alot of places. crime can happen anywhere. you just need to avoid the riffraff. i was in singapore one time, and i lost a cellphone and a bicycle in 3 days. low crime does not mean no crime. get some good guides.Comment

Holidays in Manilla
You either live there and can have a really good time, or stay a couple of days to experience it, but for a relaxing holiday it is the last place in the whole of Asia I would choose.Comment

True in Bangkok, not so in Manila, in my past three trips there I was witness to two separate stabbings. Neither guys (both foreigners) where drunk and disorderly, one guy was just walking into 7/11. The other guy, a Korean, was standing in front of a restaurant in a tourist area. You can say this kind of thing happens everywhere but in my opinion not on this scale.Comment
