Opening the door to mainstream advertising on adult sites would be a major step.

good job dude... further testament to the "mainstreaming" of porn sitting here reading this and a commercial on hbo with sasha grey talking about her character on this weeks entourage episode.. good to see people in this biz diversifying and mainstream industry welcoming it.. its been an interesting shakedown.

ADG-

Thanks! Did u get my voicemail about Hustler doing that big artilce on my next month and using the pic you took of Shay LAren and I?

I'd like to get u some photo credit!

Porno Dan 08-04-2010 09:47 PM

Congratulations Kevin, this could open the flood gates for a new stream of advertisers for the adult industry.

XPays 08-04-2010 09:49 PM

site looks great - go get that biz!

D-Money 08-04-2010 09:56 PM

By the way, didn't really read Kevin's post, didn't notice he spammed himself already.

If anyone is interested in advertising on KevinBlatt.com, hit either KB or D$ up. Non porn sites only, gotta get those mainstream links.

darren at marketingfirm.com

There, now it's a business thread.

Watch KB get famous with this. All this press he's been getting, now he can get links for himself.

I'll be putting some time into this site, lot's of updates and KB in the field. We're going to put some funny stuff up.

Robbie 08-04-2010 10:02 PM

Quick question D$: What is the URL for http://www.kevinblatt.com again?

No prob...

Print needs to be 300dpi (not web quality 72dpi), so it's best for you/Hustler to get the larger images and manipulate/edit them as you see fit.

Just tell me how to get the large (print quality) files to you...

Well, KB, take comfort in knowing that if you make mainstream advertising and porn fuse together you will still have people talking shit about you. :1orglaugh

Congrats on the opportunity! You either have something huge on your hands of a giant flop waiting to happen. Hoping it turns out to be huge!

I hope the people that matter in advertising are paying attention to how this movie is being promoted.

I have 17 photos of you and Shay together, that average 3Mb each (over 50Mb altogether), so if I can put them on a CD or FTP them to you, that will probably work better.

I bet they are.

This could actually be the "revenue stream" that idiot gideongallery is always babbling about.

No mainstream companies have ever accepted advertising from porn. But I am just sitting here thinking of the giant multimillion dollar advertising budgets of movies, cigarette companies (who literally have been banned from advertising everywhere EXCEPT adult), liquor companies, etc. that have NEVER done advertising on a porn site.

The pre-paid ad spots are dancing before my eyes right now. I am ready, willing, and able to sell premium targeted ad spots in all of CM's videos.

Liquor companies...she drinks Southern Comfort. Cigarette companies...she smokes Marlboro. Bra companies...she wears a 38 G size. And shoe companies? Just line up! She has more shoes than Imelda Marcos did. :1orglaugh

Good point there!

Many of the advertising restrictions on the tobacco and liquor industries are predicated upon keeping them from advertising to minors, since minors are not allowed to purchase/use their products, which is basically the same for adult businesses.

Seems like a natural fit to me... :thumbsup

Definitely a huge step forward for us, and its awesome that this has happened, but I don't know if this will open up as huge of a floodgate (I hope I'm wrong). I'm sure the majority of mainstream is still going to be against advertising in adult even if the movie blows up. The only reason they even considered this is because the movie is entirely based on our industry, but huge props to KB for getting them rolling on it. :thumbsup

epitome 08-04-2010 10:53 PM

The article made a great point about porn consumers being regular everyday Americans. Advertisers need to remember that. Some advertisers will end up getting shit on by religious and family values groups but at the end of the day they can target their audience for a lot cheaper than mainstream advertising.

This recession and the growing acceptance of pornography in society may be the perfect mix to push mainstream advertising into adult.

I am shocked at what some of the mainstream sites charge for advertising. I chould charge a fraction of that and still be happy.

DateDoc 08-04-2010 10:54 PM

Looks like half the ppl in here were shitting on Manwin in the other thread and here they are saying good job. Selective memory is a good thing!

I could see a lot more movies doing this too.

Imagine if this had been possible when "Boogie Nights" came out? And even today, R rated comedies like "The Hangover" or Horror movies like "Saw" could reach a huge audience with trailers.

I don't see most mainstream companies doing it...but yeah. Cigs and alcohol SHOULD be with us. It's just too perfect.

mynameisjim 08-04-2010 10:54 PM

I did notice those a while back and immediately thought that a mainstream company advertising over porn is a pretty big deal. I don't see the floodgates opening immediately, but some smaller/edgier films and products may start to do this.

Definitely something to keep an eye on.

I'm guessing that the Linda Lovelace biopic "Inferno" based upon "Deep Throat" star, Linda Lovelace, and purportedly starring Lindsay Lohan, will be another good target.

I so want to see Lindsay go down on Harry Reems, even if it's simulated.

Manwin has nothing to do with what I'm saying. As I said earlier... all of us who had "more traffic than God" back in the 1990's all the way up until Pornhub, RedTube, Youporn, and the rest came around and sucked up all the traffic...we all tried hard to get mainstream advertising on porn sites.

It was just about 10 years ago that I sat down and corresponded with Phillip Morris company and some vodka company (can't remember exactly which one now) and tried my damndest to get them to do ad spots with me on al4a and ampland.

They were so anti-porn that they wouldn't even agree to a free trial with me linking them up for a week just to show them what we could do!

So yeah, if Kevin can take that huge ball of traffic that Mansef/Manwin has thus far been unable to monetize very well (how can they? paysites aren't gonna sell that great off of it for obvious reasons and cam/dating is played out) and sell prepaid ad spots to mainstream...then that is going to open up opportunity for ALL of us.

This has the potential to be something that can make some serious money for me and all the other people who have spent years and years building their sites and brands. Doesn't mean much for all those search engine "webmasters". But for real old school webmasters this could be very nice.

Even with my comparably small traffic I could easily see a very nice paycheck on prepaid ads if this leads to other companies following the lead of "Middlemen"

I see it like this ... IF this does turn into a new revenue stream for a lot of sites it will end up being no different than the big program owners today that got their own starts through shadier means.

I still hate Manwin and what they've done to the industry as a whole but I am still very interested in seeing where this goes and being an Alexa 50 or whatever it is demonstrates to advertisers just how mainstream porn actually is.

Perhaps a negative can turn into a positive. This will start off benefiting Manwin but at the end of the day it could end up benefiting most of us.

mynameisjim 08-04-2010 11:36 PM

There is another outcome here as well people may be missing.

If mainstream companies start buying porn traffic, that will force most illegal sites to start going legit even more so than they already are. Mainstream companies may advertise on porn sites but not illegal sites and they will only buy ads over legal videos. This may be win/win for webmasters and paysite owners alike.

Agreed!

Check out this thread:

Question about Middle Men and the Mob

I know and like KB (therefore I choose to currently separate the person from the role), although until I see proof that Manwin is truly on the up-and-up (which remains to be seen), I will be watching them closely, and be reminding people about their Mansef ties:

http://www.expandmywealth.com/wp-con...undering-1.jpg

With that said, if the new biz model is to be free porn subsidized by mainstream ads, well I'm all for that. I already have plans devised along that route myself.

Personally, I wish the LA Times would invest some time into investigating the shady dealings of Mansef, and the new arrangement with Manwin. That could make a helluva story. :2 cents:

I understand what you are saying and if mainstream advertising does become more prevalent on porn sites that is a good thing but lets try to bring them in through legitimate sites not sites that steal your traffic and rip other people's member's areas. The company making the money right now is the antithesis of what you want to see as the site that is the poster child for this endeavor.

Do you honestly think that no one that goes to YouPorn and PornHub goes to the movies? If it was Pirate's Bay they were advertising on you may have a point, but most people who use porn tube sites use them the same way they use YouTube for mainstream content and that is an audience companies pay big money to advertise to.
