Not too many of you guys know me here, I am pretty new with this adult stuff and have a hard time getting simple shit done much of the time, many unnecessary difficulties that come from a general lack of experience.
Bootstrapping a program with no cash at all is kind of tough; probably it is not something that is supposed to be done, so when I saw Barefootsies’ deal with installments available at 500 a month it seemed like a great opportunity.
I jumped on it, signed the contract and sent off a down-payment pretty quickly. Shortly afterwards Barefootsies started getting a lot of hate on GFY so I decided that when business was concluded I would write a review of our transaction and post it here.
Here is that review:
I didn’t have the cash to spring for the Zuzana design upgrade, so I went with the basic package and Prez did the design. I don’t know what I would have gotten with Zuzana, her designs are generally eye-catching and impressive but I have no complaints at all about Prez’ design. The guy is totally competent and the actual design works great.
K0nrad is very helpful and his script is amazingly simple to use and modify, even for a guy like me who can’t remember how to format a simple link without looking it up. Everything the user needs to modify is in appropriately named templates in a folder named “templates” and they load up easy in whatever editor you use and can be modified very quickly. If I get stuck or have a question K0nrad is quick to reply.
The hosting is not something I really wanted since I already have a dedicated box at Mojo but it was part of the deal so I took it. Barefootsies worked out a lower price on hosting after I had already signed the agreement for a higher monthly price and passed the savings on to me immediately. I had already paid for a month of more expensive hosting and he credited it on my next bill. This was totally unnecessary since I would have paid the higher price and never known the difference but it shows he’s not trying to make a fast buck but is really interested in building long term relationships. This is something I always look for and try to keep working with people like that while avoiding the other kind.
The hosting came in handy later when I got targeted by some malware assholes (totally my fault) who sent me around a million uniques in under a week, the server never broke a sweat.
Overall I am happy and impressed with my tubesite. I am getting some paid joins and everything works as well or better than expected. I am not going to put the link here since I haven’t gotten around to publishing and categorizing all the content like I should (I bought around 1500 clips) and I don’t want my laziness made public. (it will be in my sig when I decide to have one)
Here is my one observation that may not be apparent to people just getting into the deal:
The mechbunny script offered is not the same one you will find described at mechbunny.com or in this thread http://gofuckyourself.com/showthread.php?t=980667. It is modified to make it a paysite and so many of the traffic tube features are not present. It is simpler and I am told by K0nrad that he would want about $1,000 to upgrade from this version to the full traffic tube license. I would have liked enabling user commenting and other social features as well as the mobile version, but I understand that for what I paid I did get a good deal plus I find that the features provided fit my skills and experience level just fine and I don’t know what I would do if I had to fight an army of spammers commenting all over my tubesite. At some point I will be buying the upgraded license because based on what I have seen I believe it is worth it.
Also I would like to mention that K0nrad was able to integrate his script with Nats which he did specifically because I requested it. It wasn’t part of the script before that but a custom feature he setup for me. He did this simply, and elegantly in a way that made it seem ridiculously easy and made it very simple for me to plug the tubesite into my existing in-house affiliate program and start making money with it immediately.
I have already bought additional content packages from Barefootsies and will continue doing business with him in the future.
