you're looking to buy a laptop for a good price....but you're looking for a laptop for ~3 grand? that makes no sense. lately there's been a couple deals with mad rebates ending up ~$600 USD for a respectable machine. i just picked up a new HP lappy with the following shit from staples.com, they're running a deal.

Description: HEWLETT-PACKARD PAVILION ZE400
ZE4000 PAVILION BASE (499501)
14.1IN XGA TFT (499511)
56K MODEM +10/100 LAN (492908)
512MB DDR MEMORY 2DIMM (491520)
MOBILE INTEL P4-M 1.7GHZ (499497)
20GB HARD DRIVE (491510)
CD ROM DRIVE (499514)
WINDOWS XP PROFESSIONAL (499508)
8 CELL LILON BATTERY (491525)
COREL WORD PERFECT (499510)

nothing too impressive, but not a bad deal considering it's gonna end up costing me around $650. if you look around you'll be able to find some instant saving coupon codes on spoofee.com for this HP deal. but then again if you're looking to spend 3 grand, you'll get a hell of a lot more powerful machine.

eh, don't mess around with laptop fodder.

i've got a couple suggestions.

www.dell.com
www.ibm.com

i'd suggest the ibm's first and foremost. they're the most reliable computers, period. my most reliable computer i've ever owned is a really, really, really old ibm laptop. that thing has been through hell, and still runs freebsd 2.2.7.

dell's give you a little more for the money, and their customer service is excellent, generally. with an ibm, you won't need the customer service.

(although hp's aren't bad.. stay away from gateway)

traditionally i agree with you 100%, dell latitudes are the toughest things on earth. i used to eat shit jumping down stairs with mine in my backpack and would never have to think twice about it, worked perfectly till i sold it

but damn if this doesn't seem to be the shit
