Earlier this week, the Apple bestseller chart was led by an interesting narrative called Blonde and Wet by one Carl East. Lots of Mr East's other compositions were doing well too, including Big Sis and Incest Urges of a Nymphomaniac.
He's absolutely thrilled. A native of Hull, he only began to write at the age of 44, beginning straight off with filth. Or as he puts it: ?I chose to write imaginative things, and sometimes allowed my own imagination to get away from me.?
Stylistically they are charmingly inept, veering helplessly between bald rudery and redundant gentility. At one moment, Cherry, the gifted narrator of Blonde and Wet, informs us: ?When he suddenly managed to pop in alongside Eric, I came so hard I thought I'd faint.? At the next: ?Needless to say we all took advantage of the showers after that and was [sic] soon dressed and leaving the shower room.? Hygienic and mucky at the same time, what more could one ask?
Apple, though, is not so thrilled. To spare their own blushes, they appear to have massaged their bestseller chart to eliminate Mr East's efforts.
