ill give ya 4 weeks once ou implement trials and you will be removing that trial option so fuckin fast it wont even be funny

couldn't agree more Biz... trials suck. tried them once, and actually started losing long-time members to our site who saw that they could sign up for a trial every week or two and download all the recent content, then cancel immediately. while we have no problem retaining recurring signup's, the trial signups seemed total bandwidth leeches, cant understand why any paysite w/ decent content would use them..!

PS: I've heard that 5 day trials are a bit better than 3 days, as sometimes they won't be in such a hurry to cancel within the first day ;)

thats why I give them a month for a buck, they don't feel pressured. you just have to float alot of cash if affiliates are pushing it.

if its your own traffic no worries it converts sick

Yep, that seems to be the decisive factor. I've def got the content and quality -- it's just that I've noticed over the last six months that trials converting to recurring were dropping, more and more. Lots of people signing up for the trial and going IMMEDIATELY to the cancel page/button; it's as if they didn't even really look at the site -- which tells me they were returning folks who knew they could cancel and then come back in to download all the new content in a week or two OR they're evidence of the new, 'savvied,' porn shoppers; folks who swoop in via a trail, slurp up as much bandwidth as they can and then bail.

I've gotta say, with the economy as fucked up as it is right now, and everyone getting their Xmas Visa bills, etc. etc. -- it's sorta scary making this radical of a change to my sites business plan; but something tells me I just gotta do it. Ya know?

Still, I'd like to hear from more of you who dropped trials and just went with a standard mothly fee. How'd it go?

I have never used Trials, and really don't like them as a "surfer" at all.

If I like what I see. I buy. Period.

When sites get to charging $35 and $40 bucks a month, that is when I REALLY think about it.

But the $19.95 to $29.95 is pretty normal and decent in MO.

What's the URL to your site?

on the join page, I tell them that they can get a 9.95 three day trial and a 19.95 monthly option. But once they get to the "actual" CCbill page, they'll only see the 19.95 option. I figure if I already got them committed to the ccbill page, they should just say "fuck it" and go ahead and pay for the monthly...

When I DIDN'T mention a trial on my join page after I took off my trial, sales went down a little..but now they're back to being ok....

or

29.95 for a 30 day trial and renews at 29.95

I may change that to

16.95 for a 7 day trial with month renewing to 29.95

and

29.95 for the first month and 24.95 each month thereafter.

People who sign up for trials usually cancel right away.

If $3.95-$7.95 is all you can afford for porn, your life is in a sad state and you watch every nickle and dime.

I would rather wait until the person can't resist spending the full amount for at least a month's fee.
