    U.S. Authorities Shut Down 73,000 Blogs

    After the U.S. Government took action against several sites connected to movie streaming recently, nerves are jangling over the possibility that this is just the beginning of a wider crackdown. Now it appears that a free blogging platform has been taken down by its hosting provider on orders from the U.S. authorities on grounds of ?a history of abuse?. More than 73,000 blogs are out of action as a result.

                                                                                                      I won't be at all shocked to see changes made to the DMCA rules. Big companies are getting tired of websites hiding behind the loopholes in these rules and these companies have plenty of money and influence in Washington. It isn't going to happen overnight, but I won't be shocked to see a more strict version of DMCA released.

I think the tubes will eventually take care of themselves by over-saturating the market and eventually stagnating their revenue. I want to see the torrent sites come down.

                                                                                                                  At the very least a tube site still makes you browse the site and look at ads in order to see the videos. With torrents you can download an entire member's area with just a few clicks.

But honestly bro...I don't know many companies left that can AFFORD to hire attorneys and fight in court.

But even someone with deep pockets that has seen their revenue stream cut by 50 to 60% over the last 2 years isn't going to come out ready to fight with that money.                                                                                                                                                                                                   I don't know everything the Gov has done, but they have hit some Americans and I'm sure they will start reaching into friendly Countries soon enough. While they can't take them all down, they do have a lot more power than we do with the courts when it comes to this type of action. This is being taken like an act of terrorism on our nations income machine.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  At first it sounded more like counterfeiting was the main target - rather bad piracy and very understandable. But if they're going after people that abuse dmca then this could be a huge game changer. It's not just abusing sites, it's abusing hosts, people, backbones, all of it... it doesn't look like they are playing any games here - they just need more time really.

                                                                                                                                                                                                  If they do, it will give us more power in the Courts, this could vastly change things.
