It really depends which part of the business you want to enter.

Affiliate/Lead generation
Free Dating site
Paid Dating site

Obviously as an affiliate it just takes a little time and grunt work. The investment to start is quite cheap.

Free dating sites can be started with out of the box software and are a great way to get your feet wet.

Paid dating sites really require custom software which could cost quite a bit of money. $10k+, and most likely over $50k depending on the avenue you choose to develop the software.

As with every part of the business, there are indeed guys taking advantage of the situation and running cross sales on "free dating" sites. As long as those stay in the minority the dating market has the ability to grow and morph into something even more profitable. Dating is an extension of social media. If played right, dating sites can become social media powerhouses.

Just curious why you wouldnt use that knowledge to become a full time dating affiliate? If you could generate 30 joins a day (which as you know is not alot for a decent dating affiliate) you'd make FAR, FAR more than anyone would ever pay salary / consulting wise. Seems like a no brainer for someone whos been in the game as long as you have.
