I voted for France, England and Italy were my other options, in that order to be precise.

I picked Argentina simply because they and Messi were so hyped up and they didn't even make the semi's, getting their asses demolished by Germany in one of the biggest thrashings in the World Cup. And Messi had not 4, not 3, not 2, not 1, but ZERO goals.
France was the most despicable and should be the most hated, so in that light they are a good pick for this too. Their group was reeeally tough though...Uruguay, Mexico, AND the home team South Africans. I just think Argentina should have done much better than they did though and from a perspective of underachieving, they take the mark for me. Brazil at least put up a good fight against the Netherlands (who had won a buttload of matches in a row as it was). England did do pretty badly, scoring all of 2 goals from group play on, but they even fared better against Germany than Argentina did. They should have beaten the US for sure though and that one mishandle by that England goalie will haunt him for life.
Italy being defending champs should have maybe done better, but they did have a difficult group too.
Looks like France is the clear winner so far, uh I mean... loser. :D
Personally I would have said Italy. I realise France had more controversy and the shame that comes from lame stupid in-fighting etc, but as far as the game itself goes I think Italy had the most expectations on them, seeing as they were the defending WC champions. They didn't even make it past the openers to the round of 16! In the soccer world that's the purest and worst kind of shame there is.
