Why program owners don't register their domains for 10 years right out of the box I don't know... When you are starting up you have $x amount of cash. $z should be spent on domains for 10 years... Then set your server to send you an email in 6 years and get back to 10 again.

any domain one feels is important to the core of your business she be registered for MINIMUM 5 years.... i register my most important domains for 10 and normally renew within a year of expiration so there's no 'slip ups'
