Holy shit...I just looked at a worldwide map of age of consent.
I know most of you all think "18" because of the porn biz. But of course it's not that way everywhere at all. Looks like about a third of the states in the U.S. are 18 the rest are lower.
But a few places in Mexico...the age of consent is NINE YEARS OLD WTF!?!?!?!?!
Which leads me to wonder something... I've been to a lot of nudist camps in my life. The people who live there live the lifestyle. And they DO have kids of every age. And I always thought it strange that I could stand on the edge of the nudist camp property fully naked and kids from age 1 to teenagers running around naked, but if I stepped one foot over that line I would go from being a nudist to being a sex offender!
So does that mean that if some adult guy (or woman) from the U.S. hooked up with another U.S. citizen who was UNDER the age of consent in the state that they live in...but did it in a country that the age of consent is much lower...

You cannot knowingly transport an underage person to country that has a lower age to have sex and then return to the USA. TO do so is Illegal, I can point you to the docs if needed, but they are really long and boring . . .

I meant...what if a person who is into that kind of shit just goes down to Mexico or the majority of countries that have different laws. And they don't take anybody with them...but they hook up at a resort or something with a 14 or 15 year old girl they meet there from Florida (where I think the age of consent is 18)
I'm guessing then it's completely "legal". Just like my nudist camp analogy.
How does one country (ours) reach out it's morality hand and impose our societies norms on another? Even if it's two citizens of our country. Or does the fact that they are both citizens of the U.S. mean that they are bound by the laws of the U.S. even when they are on another countries soil?

I can understand them being able to do something if you intentionally took someone younger to another place specifically for sex but I don't think anything could be done if it was someone you didn't even know existed until you met them there. Has America got sex-tourism laws though because here in the UK they can prosecute you if for example you go to Thailand specially to find underage sex.↑ see post ↑
