Man, that 30 day hold sounds like such a bitch! With everything being electronic, they should technically be able to verify funds instantly, hmph!

They can ... but more profits ( interest ) is generated by holding ...

bolsex 06-23-2010 03:32 PM

Im in Argentina...
Between 3-7usd if the check is less than usd 2,500 and I get the money instantly
If the check is +2,500 I pay a small %, and they can delay the payment upto 40 days!

Elli 06-23-2010 04:09 PM

No charge at my Canadian bank. My US bank charges $10 to receive a wire deposit.

woj 06-23-2010 08:33 PM

$50...... :)

MrBounce 06-23-2010 09:35 PM

Haven't done it in more than a year, but last time it was $20aud (17usd) per cheque. Horrible horrible horrible.

blonda80 06-23-2010 09:49 PM

$15 last time :(

rowan 06-23-2010 11:24 PM

When I was with Commonwealth Bank (Australia) years ago they converted cheques on the spot but placed a hold on the funds, problem is their system could only handle one hold at a time, so any previous hold was cancelled each time I deposited a new cheque, and the funds from the previous deposit were instantly available. Handy feature! :Graucho

Yep, we get that for each check deposited as well - and they refuse to cash checks under $90

Adraco 06-24-2010 05:05 AM

About $20 per check and no hold for clearance, given that I'm a long time customer and have enough money in my account to cover the check in full. But requires a physical visit and signatures each time. Almost not worth cashing small checks, so payment via Epass is much preferred.

DidierE 06-24-2010 07:55 AM

35 euros.
Cheque will be cashed 3-4 weeks later

Tasty1 06-25-2010 10:15 AM

About 15 euro in the netherlands and they hold it 30 days.
Since 1 month i use epassporte, don't like sending cheques by traditional mail.

Konkan 06-25-2010 10:20 AM

3$ charge on every 50$

awxm 06-25-2010 10:40 AM

Normally pay £10 for unlimited cheque deposits which clear in 5-6 days but my bank decided to fuck me last month and hold the funds for 28 days and then I got hit 10 dollars per cheque on the other end from the remitting bank. Ofcourse staff in the branch are completely clueless as to the reason. Needless to say I'm switching to Epass.

femdomdestiny 06-25-2010 10:47 AM

$3

Last time, 3 or 4 bucks, but I don't care since it takes eternity to get that money.
