Are music videos still relevant?

I see them as more of a novelty now-a-days. Something to watch while you're in a bar or something. I think some of these videos still have HUGE budgets...do they really sell more albums?

videos bigger than ever since to youtube. that's how most younger people listen to music now - just through youtube.

Agreed. At least in most cases. These guys get huge views on their music videos but have a lot of trouble selling albums.

I'm sure videos help some people sell records just by getting the music out there or creating a buzz, but I don't think it is what it once was.

Are porn videos irrelevant?

Content theft makes everything irrelevant.

Saying music videos don't sell music when the music is free on the internet is false theory
because nothing can sell it when it's all over the place for free.

Check your porn stats for proof.

I remember when MTV used to actually play music videos. Now it's mostly that reality tv crap... Bleh!

Are they relevant? Yes.

Are they worth the money spent on making them? No in 99% of the cases.

The money made through videos is probably 10% of what it was when MTV was powerful, but the costs of making most videos has stayed roughly the same over the past 10 years.

Something just doesn't add up there.

That's why I'm questioning it.

I think they are relevant only for the big names, those boring artists that are completly taken by the media. For the rest of artist it is not relevant anymore, specially since all the ideas were already used and there is nothing interesting to offer...
