i switched to the google nexus one...will NEVER go back to an apple product again. (although i think the internet's faster on iphone).

Yeah it's been up and down like a whore's drawers for me over in England too. the macmini was also announced so the store is taking a pounding. keep trying! and be pleased it is gonna cost you less than the 885 bucks it is costing me!

What will I be paying to preorder this? Will they kickout my contract further or treat me as a full price customer?

They're letting some people upgrade early, login to your account on att.com and try to upgrade. It will tell you whether you can upgrade early or if you have to pay a fee.

if your not able to upgrade on the apple site, its because of AT&T and NOT apple.

their system is pinging AT&T to make sure you are able to upgrade and since they have the same technology since 1987 their entire system is down

Yeah I took that into account. With all the preorders being placed there is a possibility of them not having any in stock to ship. However, they only pre-authorized my card and won't actually charge it until it ships out. My current phone works fine, if there is a delay, then there is a delay. It's okay.
