They claim they found the 26-year-old standing naked over his friend's body with parts, including an eyeball, strewn around the blood splattered room in Klamath, California.

Wyatt allegedly told police he had drunk a cup of tea spiked with hallucinogenic mushrooms and became convinced Powell was possessed.

According to an autopsy Powell, 21, bled to death after his heart was ripped out.

The coroner said Powell had been alive when the organ was ripped out after his chest had been sliced open with a knife.

Wyatt told the police he thrown the heart into a fire along with other organs that he had removed from the body, it was claimed.

Shrooms and other hallucinogens cannot have their effects generalized. They affect DMT levels in the brain and affect everyone differently. Saying "you can't do *insert act here* while on shrooms" is very ignorant.

If you are a peaceful person, chances are your shroom trip will be peaceful. Basically, in a way shrooms simply augment your subconscious thoughts and bring them to the foreground.

As this seemed to be a violent/aggressive person, that was brought out stronger in him.

Claims such as "while on shrooms you can't hold a knife" is also garbage; many people have intense ability to focus while hallucinating.

No one is saying that. Yes the drugs did make him to that but he CHOOSE to take those drugs. You can not be seriously telling me if you or someone you loved drank something spiked with hallucinogens unknowingly and then while high they killed someone you'd be all for their lifetime incarceration?

I agree. It effects chemicals in the brain and who knows how people will or might react who are already imballanced.

First hand I don't know anyone who's done anything fucked up while on mushrooms, but I do know people first hand who have done extremely fucked up shit while on LSD.

I don't think shrooms caused it, but I find it hard to deny they played a role. I think what it amounts to is the drug itself won't make you crazy, but some people sit closer to the edge than others. People who are already touched might not need a push but only a nudge to descend into madness.
