Super tankers and above are extremely busy. Those ships are booked years ahead and most have cargo already loaded going somewhere. Plus the sheer fact that they have a quite low top speed, so it would take most super tankers and the sizes above it some respectable time to even show up at the scene.

I know for a fact that someone is out there asking around if there are any contracts available for super tankers. No one knows or can confirm that BP is behind this, but it would at least be a reasonable suspicion.

Yep.. this is exactly what I was talking about.. People that just think this is a southern US disaster will likely have a rude awaking when and if the oil gets into the Gulf stream.

It's not just FL's beaches that are next on the chopping block but the entire east cost of the US and who knows where else. The shallow reef areas of the Keys and Bahamas are going to be massively fucked as well.

It will all eventually come back in time, but we are all fucked for the time being.

the only way to take car of that leaking - is to nuke it...

this is how the Russians are taking care of those things in the backyard...
and they already offered their services to BP.

Since it's underwater detonation it may probably cause less damage than just siting and waiting for something to happen while the oil is leaking out daily...

            Wrong.

Nuking it would potentially widen the hole, create new holes, irradiate everything under water, and then when the next hurricane blows in, will disperse radioactive globs of oil all over everything and everyone.

There's A LOT of money to be made in government/FEMA contracts for cleanup is all I can say.. Had one contractor bragging to me about how much he was going to make.. Of course that doesn't help the private industries being affected..

That is some serious bad news. Given enough time, it might even reach africa due to the atlantic wind currents.

I watched a few hours of it on tv tonight.... had to turn it off. The level of eco-destruction with no end in sight is just painful to watch.

There was news of new oil pipelines being built, and now there is news of the oil leak.

Amazing - maybe more efforts need to be put into preventing spills.

Keep in mind that the BP oil spill actually happened in 2 completely different places - Gulf of Mexico and Alaska. That's not just 1 place.
