Petition AGAINST EU TAX

http://noeutax.eu/uk/index-uk.html

Quote:
At a time when the citizens of Europe need to tighten their belts, the European Union wants to increase its spending.

The EU budget for 2010 amounts to 141 billion Euros. Many European politicians and senior EU officials consider this a "paltry sum". They want to boost the EU budget by introducing indirect European taxes, such as a higher contribution from national VAT, a tax on CO2 emissions and charges on banking and electronic communications.

If Brussels itself gets its own tax-rising powers, there will be no way back. Once the tax is introduced, the tariff will go up gradually. The bureaucracy decides what the taxpayer pays. For the taxpayer himself, it's checkmate.

Let the European Union focus on its core tasks, such as the internal market, the euro zone or a common policy on environment, transportation, immigration and energy independence. But there is no need for a huge subsidy system, financed through an EU tax.

The EU is already unable to spend the full budget of the European Social Fund, the European Regional Development Fund and the Cohesion Fund, due to lack of convincing projects. Therefore the EU budget should be no more than 1 per cent of European Gross National Income (GNI).

Main elements:

1. No introduction of direct EU taxes or increase in national VAT contributions to the EU !

2. Restrict the EU budget to no more than 1 percent of European GNP, so more efficient use of the existing means.

Sounds like they're trying to find a way to pay for Greece and/or other countries which decide to take a shit.

Meanwhile the IMF is licking their collective lizard lips.

Tough question. At one point I can see a lot of EU funding invested into the local roads and bridges. These are huge investments we get to improve the infrastructure. At the same time, now is definitely not the best time to implement new taxes. Situation is bad enough.

the trouble is that these "huge investments" go to the country's who get more back than they pay in. the rich countries that pay in much more than they get out (uk, germany, netherlands etc) ,already pay more than enough.

On 16 December 2008, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union adopted Directive 2008/115/EC on common standards and procedures in Member States for returning illegally staying third-country nationals as published in the Official Journal (L 348 of 24.12.2008). The transposition deadline for the Member States is 24.10.2010.
In July 2006 the Commission adopted a Communication on policy priorities in the fight against illegal immigration of third-country nationals (COM (2006) 402) which builds on the guiding principles and EU achievements and further develops new priorities. It follows a comprehensive approach, striking a balance between security and basic rights of individuals and thus addresses measures at all stages of the illegal immigration process.
In order to fully implement the Return Action Programme agreed in 2002, the Commission adopted in September 2005 a proposal for a Directive on common standards and procedures in Member States for returning illegally staying third-country nationals. The objective of this proposal is to provide for clear, transparent and fair common rules concerning return, removal, use of coercive measures, temporary custody and re-entry while taking into full account the respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms of the persons concerned.

I don't understand.... the left-wingers on this board should be cheering when global governments get bigger and more powerful so that they can tax the evil rich countries and redistribute the wealth to the poor countries... (who are obviously being victimized by the rich countries)

Why aren't you all cheering?

I'm confused.

I read newspaper articles that Germany has a very strong economy right now and Greece is weak. OECD: Greek Economy To Shrink 3.7% In 2010. German economy is growing.

I posted in some of my previous posts that USA has #1 GDP and China has #2 GDP. That was actually wrong. Surprisingly, the correct order is 1) USA ; 2) Japan ; 3) China. Here is the useful list of GDP by country according to wikipedia.org:
