I don't know how the guys do it..

had surgery today for trigger finger in my left index and middle fingers. Hand has been numb most of the day. I'm in an ace wrap over gauze padding and a plastic splint until Friday evening.. and the stitches, steri-strips and the tegaderm bandage stays until the 11th.

What happened???

I had to go without my right arm for a bit last year after a dislocation being retarded playing hockey... That made coding an interesting task.

I also had trouble typing after I fell on grass lands in an unfortunate accident and I broke my shoulder bone. All is healed now.

Developed what's called trigger finger... "Tendons that control the movements of the fingers and thumb slide through a snug tunnel of tissue created by a series of pulleys that keeps the tendon in place. The tendon can become irritated as it slips through the tunnel. As it becomes more and more irritated, the tendon may thicken, making its passage through the tunnel more difficult. The tissues that hold the tendon in place may thicken, causing the opening of the tunnel to become smaller. As a result, the tendon becomes momentarily stuck at the mouth of the tunnel as the finger is extended. A pop may be felt as the tendon slips past the tight area. This why pain and catching may be felt as the finger is moved."

had a couple of rounds of corticosteroid injections that didn't last long so surgery was the next step.

Although I expect you mean typing with one hand while your other hand is 'busy' I have never learnt to type and only use 1 finger and 1 thumb on my right hand. Usually get about 80% of what anybody else does on a wpm test.
