He is on his way to the hospital via helicopter but expected to be okay. The only reason he is going by helicopter is that the race is over and traffic will be nuts.
Did you see Mike Conway's crash at the INDY 500? [video]

This is what can happen if you go to fast. I hope Mike Conway gets better soon at Indy 500 2010. Helicopter to hospital should be faster than cars in traffic, for sure. A helicopter is a genius invention. Did you see the Chinook? What a briliant design.Last edited by fatfoo; 05-30-2010, 03:43 PM.Send me an email: [email protected]Comment

I watched the race... it was insane.
Ryan Hunter-Reay (the driver that went underneath) was lucky, very lucky. About another coulpe inches and he could have had his head taken clean off by Conway's vehicle.Formerly known as Adult Rental Chris

Hunter-Reay said he was out of gas and that is what caused Conway to run into him as his car suddenly decelerated. His car has damage in front of him and behind him and he says he was lucky. Dude could have been decapitated.
"I knew I had a bunch of cars back there," Hunter-Reay said. "I'm sorry Mike is hurt.
"That car was coming down on me, for sure. I don't know how it missed my head. I've got tub damage to the front, tub damage just behind."
He exhaled and acknowledged his luck. Then the 29-year-old Floridian sounded angry.
"It was totally uncalled for. We weren't going to make it anyway," Hunter-Reay said. "When you run out of fuel in these cars, it's like hitting the brakes. In hindsight, we should have stopped for fuel.
"What we had out there at the end of that race was dangerous. You've got cars off the pace doing 150 mile-per-hour averages. You've got cars running out of fuel. When you run out of fuel on this racetrack, it's a one-groove racetrack. There's no run-off lane. There's no bailout procedure. You either slow down or you hit the car in front of you."
