The reason I feel it is not good for the military to allow OPEN gay persons to serve is this: When someone gets wounded or blown up you rush to help them, to try and save their life, HOWEVER, now lets say that the guy that has been flaunting his gayness gets hit some people WILL think twice before running to help them. I wanted to serve but when I was 19 an uncle who was a Marine talked me out of it knowing I would be miserable having to deny something that I have been political about.

HIV is not an issue just for gay people and the military tests. There isn't a way around a positive test.

At this point you get a medical discharge for being HIV positive. That is a whole other battle I won't get into today. Countries like Israel will move HIV positive servicemen to non-combat zones and desk positions.

I know a lot of straight guys that talk shit 24/7 and think they are funny. I know some gay guys that act absolutely normal. Don't speak for all gay guys. I seriously doubt those gay dudes and lesbo girls that chose to serve their country look like RuPaul or typical flaming queens from Soho.

So if they act like everyone else, what's the harm in DADT? It should never be an issue.

You raise a good point? DADT is only an issue to those who want to be open about their homosexuality.. Those who are usually open about their homosexuality are also flamboyant. Those who are flamboyant aren't ever going to make good soldiers and are going to get themselves and others killed. Therefore, keep DADT...

Exactly...and I will repeat the overwhelming majority of those gays that are discharged are because they...for whatever their reason/reasons...played the gay card themselves.

There is ways around taking the test in the military.. I have seen it first hand.. i.e. When your blood is drawn you step out of line and your "friend" takes your place.. I have seen it happen more than once.. Also if a person is in the reserves of national guard most of the time they send you to a civilian place such as quest for blood work.. I know of more than a few people that have had their "friends" go in their place.. The stupid techs at those places only look at the ssn # and then name on the ID.. They don't care..

And no you don't get a medical discharge for being HIV positive.. You can even re-enlist being HIV positive.. The military can not kick you out for being HIV positive..

I understand HIV has nothing to do with a person being gay or not, Just saying that some people would think twice before helping a openly gay person in time of need.. Peopls will deny that but IT DOES and WILL HAPPEN...!:2 cents:
