    Man sentenced to 25 years in stabbing death of immigrant

    New York (CNN) -- A Long Island, New York, man was sentenced to 25 years in prison -- the maximum -- Wednesday for his role in the stabbing death of an immigrant from Ecuador.

    Jeffrey Conroy was convicted in April of manslaughter as a hate crime in the death of Marcelo Lucero, an immigrant from Ecuador. Prosecutors say Conroy and six friends in 2008 targeted Latinos for assaults -- part of a sport they called "beaner-hopping".

                          why not just cremate the ones that are still alive and send their ashes back...

                              The gov is forking out for all the deportations right? So why not, if you get caught and you're facing deportation, at least get the option to choose where you wanna go? You know, give them a little hope at least instead of sending them back to where they came from. Let them decide.

                              "Oh, right mate, well I think I'd like to go to London today."
                              "Very well sir, right this way."

                              Probably get less repeat offenders.
