Bit of confusion about that "dude looks like a lady" song it would seem.
After doing a search here's some comments i found:
He hooked up with a gender-bender thinking it was a woman. She "whiped out her gun", much to his surrpise. It's really quite funny how Aerosmith makes light of this kind of thing

This song is about Bret Michaels, the vocalist of Poison. He's a 'dude' but he looks so feminine it's rediculous...
On VH1's show "Remaking Vince Neil," the writer/producer who is helping Vince with his new music mentions writing previously with Aerosmith. He says while meeting with Steven Tyler at a bar, they took notice of Vince Neil and Tyler said something along the lines of that "dude looks like a lady."
WRONG!!! There is a recording of Steven Tyler telling the story of how when he was young in New York him and some friends picked up a hooker off the streets in their van and had a surprise. I got it on tape and everything.
I herd this song was about Vince Neil cause Steven Tyler was at like a bar and he saw Vince Neil there with some chick and he thought "how come he got so many girls when i looked like one himself". But appearntly he denied that, which he should of.
The truth is out there !!!!

Aye but after that Steven got his own manager separate from the band's manager and said he wanted to focus on his solo career. He wanted to do more poppy new music while the band wanted to stay true to their roots. The band even started auditioning different singers since Steven didn't want to play with Aerosmith anymore. Then Steven showed up at a Joe Perry gig and sang "walk this way." After the song he said, "You, Joe, are a man of many colors. But I am the motherfucking rainbow."
