If you live more than 3 floors up and no elevator, $5 for sure if delivered on time.

Normally about $2-$3. The only time I have ever really gone above that was a few years ago on New Years we ordered 6 or 7 pizzas and a few orders of breadsticks so I think we all pitched in a few bucks and tipped the driver about $12. She was very happy!

I couldn't fathom not tipping a pizza guy, even if they were late. Amazing people could be that cheap on something they're already paying a premium for.

I answer the door naked, that's better than a few bucks for em lol

The place that we order from most often ends up being $18 ... I tip $3 ... but it's only about 3/4 of a mile away.

If it's further or a larger order I typically do about $4.

Worst was if you see religious stuff on the windows of the porch.. forget it.. friendliest people but no tip. Otoh go to some motel or hotel where say two guys.. gays tip great and never threaten you :) Best tips from Hotels.

60% includes dorm and college kids who altho many tip (mostly young women), many more dont (usually young males the worse tipping demographic and yet a heavy orderer.

Ahh I remember the dorms.. the cute little girlies would have to wait in the lobby of dorms as we couldn't go wander into them so they would come down in there little nighty outfits. :) Oh there were some cute ones. And of course there were some good looking young ladies living on their own in apts. With their shoes off BF. :)

It was a great job. $10/hour after tips. Maybe $12 today as min wage went up. But you seen so much.

It was always fun delivering to the jails (gaurds) and feeling like Don Adams going though the gates. Ahh so many stories. :) Worst parts: 4th floor apts with no elevator and usually the worst tippers, male college students.

You can park anywhere. You could even burn one on the job, tho I would never do that. :winkwink: It was fun. :)

I'm not ordering pizza...

A friend of mine lived in southern California for a while and worked part time as a pizza deliver driver. He said the same thing. Everyone knew who the good tippers were and they would jump to deliver to them and stop at those places first if they were delivering to more than one place.

He also lived near Camp Pendleton and he said whenever the Marines would call in an order nobody would volunteer to deliver and the manager would have to draw names from a hat. The reason was the guys would order a bunch of pizzas and they would never tip. He said once he delivered 16 pizzas to them and didn't even get a single dollar for a tip.

I can understand the service guys not having a lot of money, but you would think they could come up with an extra buck or two especially when they ordered so much. . . but I guess they felt like since they were ordering so much they didn't have to tip.

Did you ever see anything crazy? Like get to a house and they were having a nudist picnic or something like that? I would imagine you would see all kinds of crazy stuff.

A friend of mine that is a cop once got called to an apartment building because a car alarm kept going off. He goes to the door where the owner lives and this smoking hot girl answers the door naked. He can see behind her on the couch another hot, naked girl and a nude dude.

She was really nice, apologized and never once tried to cover herself up. After that if there was ever a report of an alarm going off the cops would race each other to see who could get there to answer the call the fastest.

Good thing was these dorms had public rest rooms on the ground floor because sometimes the babes looked too good. :) You would see alot of girls and yes some would hit you just right.

For some reason I remember being in apts with young 30 ish ladies the most.

I always liked the kinda stoney type who would say "come in" and not go open the door. So you walk into her living room. You know, you have to stay professional and go thru the motions but it is very intimate sometimes esp if she looks good.

Mind you, you are like a robot as you have to go thru these motions, if you want your job so you cant really hit on her in any way. Plus we always have pies in the car. Ever know a Dominos guy not in a hurry. :)

It was up to her. It isnt like in a Ron Jeremy porno where Jeremy can make that leap. lol

In real life, in someones home, you have to always be cool but it can be erotic.

Most people just want to eat. You don't get alot of come ons. If two girls maybe there is more talking.

The whole thing in delivering for Dominos is you can't get held up. This is your enemy. So usually if you do hit a couple drunk honies who are all giggly and cant get the money together or one may be totally passed out the thought becomes getting the money together.

Because the reverse is the problem. People not having the money together, not knowing who ordered it, ect.

The hardest thing is prob going into private parties where bikers or hard drinkers/stoners may be around. You can tell when guys are no nonsense so you want the money but you must be very polite cause the guy with all the tattoos and bulging biceps is swaying and the Jack is almost empty. So you had to learn to be very nice to all people.

But sometimes things got out of hand. As I posted onetime a no-no was grabbing the hotbag. All was cool till then. If you grabbed the hotbag then basicly I could be an ass because I am just there to get the money.

I was at least 6'3 fairly hard 255 back then. Lets say a couple guys grabbed it and I always got it back. Sometimes their 'zas would then be all jumbled. Take em back to store.

The guy you worried about was not the drunk guy who was going to wrassle the hotbag but the guy of few words with buddies around. :) Those guys are not going to grab the hotbag.

In reality you want the money and you are gone. Soon as the money was not going to come. I would head out. If they grabbed the bag. We would wrassle with the bag. I went out one guy's screen door and ripped the door off the hinges as the door wasnt opening. :)

See the simple steps are:

2) Pizza

Another real problem non people related is falls and weather. I had a lot of nasty falls, dislocated elbow, banged up twisted knees. Lots of working and delivering in -15, going up wrickety old metal, outside the house, frozen stairwells to some rat living in an attic.

Stories go on and on. Alright go and sin no more. Sounds like some good tippers in this bunch :thumbsup

Same here. I guess if you make good enough pizza the customers come to you.

I do get fast food pizza occasionally though, employees always love dominos- WTF. I usually tip $3-$5. $5 is pretty standard, but if anything seems off about it the tip drops w/ the quality. Late, old & cold, or forgotten items, etc.

Also look at what they charge you- if they already work in a delivery fee- I think Pappa Johns does that and maybe a few others, I cut the tip back to reflect it. So if the delivery charge is $2.50 I tip $2.50

Well NOW they're actually pretty good, especially for the price. Before their massive changes though, they totally blew ass. Like I didn't think it was possible to DISLIKE pizza but that was the case with them before.

Tipping isn't a big thing in AU, having said that on the rare occasions where we stoop to Pizza Hut or Dominos level I do give him a tip of a few bucks... recently I noticed Pizza Hut have raised their delivery fee from $3 to $8 ($USD2.70->$USD7) which is a pretty big jump... hope the delivery guy gets all that.

I always give $5.00 unless they are late like over 45 mins then I take a $1.00 off per every 5 min over the time they tell me.

Nobody delivers this far out of town.
