Our affiliate program is basicly not used at all. We recieve like 1 affiliate sales every 10 days or so.. 99.99% of our traffic is generated inhouse - that's the reason why we didnt did any announcements about this temporary state.

That also explains the outgoing link on our tour - 99.99% of the traffic on the tours is our own - alot more traffic than we care to throw away during a maintenance period

As for the specific issue in this thread, you can't have it both ways. If you want to have an affiliate program, then have one. If you do, you can't take their traffic and direct it elsewhere with your affiliate code.

You didn't want to throw away your own traffic during a maintenance period, but you decided that it was okay for an affiliate to throw theirs away?

I repeat, we only did this because we have close to no affiliate traffic at all - and because this was a temp thing.

At the least they should have sent out an email to their affiliates keeping them informed of the change instead of cutting and running. That was very unprofessional of them. Some day when their traffic is down they may need an affiliate program again, bad move on their part.
