I have a picture somewhere, not sure if I can find it doing 182 mph. This was years ago. I think I slowed down a bit when I was looking for the camera. :Oh crap |

Can't use nitrous here, it is illegal to have a nitrous system connected to your car that is capable of operating when you are driving around town. You can have one installed, but it has to be disabled until you get to the "track".
Stupid ontario laws. |
damn, top speed 128 mph in a modified 72 buick skylark with a nice 350 my dad put in. i backed off when the thing started shaking violently.
some of you cats have hit some serious mph! |

The laws are ridiculous. The only thing that makes me happy is when I see cops getting charged with street racing. Happening more and more often all the time. |
No shit? That's all very, very retarded.
I've been pulled over a few times with the bottle in the car, connected but not armed. Arming would have only taken me reaching in the back seat and opening the valve to the bottle. Cops just look at it, verify it's not a bomb, and go on about writing me a ticket for something stupid. |
125 in a beat up BMW 325es

At one point they were even talking about crushing cars if they found them modified for "street racing". i.e. anything from a supercharger right down to something as stupid as a catback exhaust. I never heard any more about it so I am thinking they finally gave up on their crusade of the week. I did see an article in the paper at one point with a stack of crushed imports though. |

"No sir, we're just out for a nice cruise tonight." "at 3 am on a friday morning?" "we all work late shift/are unemployed/are self employed" "street racing?" "no sir, not at all, just a nice cruise around vancouver" "sounds fun. be safe" This despite that we were stopped on the side of a road, under a no parking sign (we didn't see it until he rolled up), and three of our cars are loud and look like we'd be street racing, lol. People who hate cops always have reason. A reason that I just can't comprehend. Even with my violently loud car idling there, and the fact that we're all in our early-mid 20's, he was cool andj ust told us to be safe. The moral of the story is this: Silly laws are stupid, because they might force an otherwise cool cop to be a dick. I'm sure he figured we were out racing around, but since our laws basiically say its fine to be a car club with annoyingly loud cars so long as we're safe, he was cool. Ontario might have been a different story, I guess. That's why western can is so much better :D edit: Jon Oso, I wish we had your weather here in Vancouver. Bastard. |
More people in this thread claim to have gone over 200 mph than there are cars that
can actually do 200 mph so either somebody is lying or you all car pool to work :winkwink: |
130 km/h on a scooter :)

But aside from that, there's a reason why a lot of the major car makers have testing grounds here. Our urban heat island is NOT the place you really want to have a car that has overheating issues. Another reason why nitrous / NA cars are better off than FI cars, we don't have to deal with all the extra heat that cramming extra PSI into your motor creates. But you are right, the constant sunshine and lack of rain is super nice :) The dust sucks though. :) |

It was good for me though because it got me out of that scene almost completely. |
On the way home from the Atlanta show I was doing 130.

Old picture....
http://www.rochardsbunnyranch.com/rock/faster.jpg It's not about how fast you've gone in a car. It's about how fast you were going when you got pulled over. So far I have three 100mph plus speeding tickets. It amazes me that I am still aloud to drive. |
Probably fastest i have gone is around 150mph. My car spec sheet says it will 202mph with the limiter removed but i am way too chicken shit to attempt it.

309 kilometers (= 192.003698 miles) in a CL63 AMG, German autobahn!!!

got pulled over at 175 km/h, but reached 195 km/h ....

drove my buddies camaro and the speedometer went to 150 and I had it bouncing so I guess a little bit over 150+, wasn't as fun as I thought as I launched from the Indiana toll booth at about 3-4 P.M. so it was kinda stupid cause if someone would have jumped into my left lane could have gotten interesting trying to avoid them, when I hit the ramp I needed you could just feel the brake sink and the smell of brakes burning, few years ago so the young and dumb phase, we use to go the Joliet racetrack and you could pay $20 to run the quarter mile for a couple hours which is safer but you don't do 150+ in a quarter.
|
Speeding punishments are way too vindictive here to go fast even on an empty motorway at 3am :(

For factory cars the 200 mph mark is like a wall and very few can surpass it without major upgrades. I saw a show on speed once where some guys were at an airport or something and they were doing runs for top speed and the host's goal was to break 200 mph. He tried in a few cars including a Porsche Carrera GT and couldn't break the 200 mph barrier until he got in someone's FORD GT40 that had been modified. I don't know if you were at the Homestead Airport or at the Speedway but you would have to been in something pretty special to reach 210 mph :winkwink: Sounds like you have an interesting story so please share. |
on the road? deserted mountain roads, on a long straight, i've been up to around 250KM/H or so. on the track almost 300KM/H, engine maxed right out. that shit is pretty scary, things happen so fast (911 C4S).
