      Anime (アニメ, uitspraak: AA-NIE-MEE) is de Japanse benaming voor tekenfilms. Het is afkomstig van het Engelse woord animation. Buiten Japan wordt dit woord gebruikt om Japanse tekenfilms aan te duiden. Veel mensen denken dat deze tekenfilms manga of mangafilms heten, maar dat is een misverstand. Manga zijn Japanse strips.
