No one said they were. You and other people in this thread are the ones that are trying to say this law is about Mexicans when it is not. It is about illegal aliens. Not all illegals are from Mexico. :2 cents: |

It would be nice that when my kid turns 16 that he can get a job at a fast food place for summer work. But he won't be able to if all these illegal's are there and he won't have a chance if there is amnesty. Lastly, I am Hispanic and I grew up next to Mexicans, 90 percent of the Mexicans I know are just as racist as any white pride member. I have never personally experience a culture more inherently racists then the people from Mexico. |
i hope nevada gets a law like that.

So I heard today here in Arizona we have gone from 9th in the US in stolen cars to 40th in the last two years. Also illegal imagration is down 37% in the past year.
Maybe with our new law taking effect we will get to 50th in the States for stolen vehicles! |

Interesting, California has the same law that they are boycotting Arizona for:
Section 834b in the California Penal Code: (a) Every law enforcement agency in California shall fully cooperate with the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service regarding any person who is arrested if he or she is suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws. (b) With respect to any such person who is arrested, and suspected of being present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws, every law enforcement agency shall do the following: (1) Attempt to verify the legal status of such person as a citizen of the United States, an alien lawfully admitted as a permanent resident, an alien lawfully admitted for a temporary period of time or as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of immigration laws. The verification process may include, but shall not be limited to, questioning the person regarding his or her date and place of birth, and entry into the United States, and demanding documentation to indicate his or her legal status. (2) Notify the person of his or her apparent status as an alien who is present in the United States in violation of federal immigration laws and inform him or her that, apart from any criminal justice proceedings, he or she must either obtain legal status or leave the United States. (3) Notify the Attorney General of California and the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service of the apparent illegal status and provide any additional information that may be requested by any other public entity. (c) Any legislative, administrative, or other action by a city, county, or other legally authorized local governmental entity with jurisdictional boundaries, or by a law enforcement agency, to prevent or limit the cooperation required by subdivision (a) is expressly prohibited. |

Here is the law.... http://law.onecle.com/california/penal/834.html I think the difference is that LA is not ENFORCING the law.... and the fact that elected officials choose whether or not to enforce a law is another problem altogether... |

I think the people of Arizona have the right to pass any law they want.
As long as the law passes constitutional muster, they have the right to do so and live with its' consequences: for better or worse. I wouldn't want anybody from any other state telling us in Texas how to govern, secure our borders or live our lives. Nor, would I support telling the people of New York, California or Arizona how to live and enforce their laws. I fully support States' Rights. |

How about we enforce immigration laws on business too. Don't hire illegals. Thats much more simple. Few people, and virtually no republicans are talking about that. Agriculture lobbying too hard against it i presume.
