I don't see ads, but I do sometimes get the "everything bar" on the left side. Takes up waaaay too much room, and I don't need/use it.
I delete my cookies and it goes away, but I'm sure they'll make it a permanent fixture eventually.gone. long gone.

A lot of the options added were already available, they were just condensed/tucked away. I think most people are annoyed due to the fact that it forces your eyes to scan the page for the content that you're used to seeing stacked on the left side. Google image search by color? What is this? No, I did not notice such a thing.
