I realized that i made a question to which answers are Chinese to me :1orglaugh
So if i use Ubuntu and save files, install programs, etc it means that that data will be hosted by Ubuntu's servers and not in my machine? |
Ubuntu is an OS. Like Windows, and MacOS. You can read/write to HFS+ (mac) and NTFS (XP+) filesystems with it if you set it up to do so.
Given your current questions, I'd suggest you just use what works for you on your systems, and let who manages your servers handle that sort of thing. |
I suggest you read up on Ubuntu to get a better understanding.
|
Ok, but which version works best for you or you are recommending?

That is what I would suggest for anybody wishing to try it out without having to partition your disk. Perfect for new users to take a test drive. :2 cents: If you don't care for it just uninstall it like any other Windows program. |
i use ubuntu for my main pc, freebsd for my servers, windows only for lappy

I'm not the best designer, but I have designed a lot of my own shit as a webmaster over the last 7 years using only GIMP and never had any complaints. Maybe check out these? http://creativenerds.co.uk/tutorials...astering-gimp/ |

Well, it's more stable than Windows, it's free, doesn't fuck your system with as much spyware/virus bullshit.

Gotta love holy wars...
After you're done with this one, try asking if you should use vim or emacs :winkwink: Anyway, if you do decide to try Ubuntu, don't try KUbuntu (KDE version) - I've got it installed and I've come to regret it. It's nothing major, just all these small annoyances that *just* keep me from reinstalling the whole machine. Anyway, good luck making your decision :) |
