good riddance! honestly, its about time and not sure why they didnt die off long ago.

with solid state drives and memory cards, they are smaller, hold more and more convenient than any type of zip disk or floppy plus do not require a special drive.

That doesn't seem right. From the article:

Sony is the last manufacturer of 3.5-inch floppy disks, and while the company sold more than 12 million of them in 2009, Sony has just announced it will stop making floppies as of March 2011.
Sony only sells that many in a year, apparently.
                                  .

Hmm. It's still possible to buy the USB version here in Russia because our fuckin' tax inspectorate still accepting the tax return forms on floppy. Not buecaose our computers are outdated. Just because our tax inspectorate programmers are brainless.

It's amazing news that some company sold 12 million last year.

I haven't seen a goddamn floppy since 1996. Who the fuck is still using those things?

not too long ago i needed a new zip drive (for recording studio equipment) and went into fry's to try and pick one up. sales rep was like "zi-ip?". couldn't help but LOL in his face for making me feel so old

still got a bunch of floppy/zip disks scattered around. i'll keep em for prosperity now
