    Google is pissing me off

I have a site I'm trying to rank for a paticular keyword phrase that I think will bring me some nice sales. I'm getting hits for that keyphrase but not that many, only a few hundred a day.

So I check Google to see where it's ranking my site and am surprised to find it on page 1, in the top 5. That can't be right, it's a popular search term according to Google Trends and the hits I'm getting in no way bear out that position.

I try different browsers and get roughly the same, I even tried my smartphone, over my wifi and gprs and got the same - in fact it puts it at #3.

This can't be right thinks I, so tries http://www.searchenginegenie.com/goo...k-checker.html and finds that it's not in the top 100 results, as I would expect.

So how the fuck do I get Google to show me the true results, that everyone else sees? And why the fuck is it showing me my site at #3 when no-one else sees it there? I've not got Web History on before anyone says it.

The result is based on many things, including your location. The script one searchenginegenie are working with another datacenter, and therefore provide you with different results. Dont blame Google for your inability to understand its algorithm.

Cheers mate, I've installed that FF addon and it does help a bit but it's not overcoming the location thing. I guess what is happening is that Google can see from the whois data that the site is registered to the same area I'm searching from and therefore thinks it's highly relevant to my search. But I don't want it to! Going through a proxy I can see it at the top of page 3 on google.com, it's just annoying that I have to do it that way to see the true results.

I have some sites in there but I don't want to add all of them, I don't know if it's such a good idea to let G know everything about your business.
