Ok, that was different
I love it when political correctness takes in the assCarbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. So people in the US are responsible for 13% of the carbon in the atmosphere which 95% is not from Humans, like cars and trucks and stuff and they want to spend trillions to fix it while Solar Panel plants are powered by coal plants
think about thatComment

Contrary to mainstream belief, The US Civil War was not fought because of slavery, but because of the federal government forcing laws onto individual states.Comment

It's a flag of the enemy of the US that killed more Americans than any other enemy. Might as well as be flying Swastikas. If you fly the flag of the CSA then you can't love the USA. They were ENEMIES. The CSA was DEFEATED so game over. Get over it or LEAVE the US. It is IMPOSSIBLE to be proud to be an American and yet be proud of the Confederacy. Go ask how many Germans if they are proud of thier Nazi heritage? You won't find many.Comment

YEs it was. Redneck like to use the "states right" BS to justify starting a war. The only "right" they had a beef over was slavery. If Lincoln had said slavery could continue in the south forever there never would have been a Civil War.
If the war wasn't about slavery I find it very coincidental that the south which had issues with the federal government over slavery already decided to secede only weeks after a ABOLITIONIST became president. Totally not connected right?Comment

My family is Native American, whats your point?
General Lee took his forces north to attack the supply line of the north, main forces never marched forward to take land or control, why don't you learn some history about what the Red Legs did. Or how many homes were burnt down in the south or about the brutal behavior of the union troops after the war was over, maybe the prisoner of war camps?

Calling me names only serves to show your juvenile tendencies.
Where did i write something to make you think I'm a racist?
Lincoln at first wanted to go with the compensated emancipation which stopped the expansion of slavery states, but with the secession of the south, he used Presidential powers to issue the Emancipation Proclamation in September of 1862 almost two years after the secession of the southern states, the secession of the states is what gave Lincoln the power to do so. BTW, they succeeded before he even took office. If they hadn't seceeded from the US, Slavery would have been around a lot longer.
Where the fuck did you learn to spell?
They were only the enemy of the north, after the war, they were US.
If you lived in California, would they have been the enemy?
Remember this was a civil war
And why would I want to dance with you, you clearly have two left feet!Carbon is not the problem, it makes up 0.041% of our atmosphere , 95% of that is from Volcanos and decomposing plants and stuff. I'm no history buff but the civil war was not about abolishing slavery. It had a lot to do with the federal government putting a stop to the expansion of slavery into areas where it didn't already exist. The southern states that seceded already had slaves so it's not like the gov tried to stop slavery and the south said no. And also the south had little influence in gov matters so when their proposal to extend states rights was denied they said screw this crap we're leaving this overbearing gov and starting our own.YEs it was. One major reason for turning it into a war against slavery in 1863, two years after the war started, was because the British were backing the south and the union army definitely would have lost against them. Lincoln knew the British were against slavery so he created the Emancipation Proclamation, which didn't actually free slaves, and the British dropped out. What freed the slaves was the 13th amendment to the constitution in 1865 after the war, it had to be added since since Lincoln used slavery as a war tactic.
Lots of people think Lincoln was doing all of this to help black people and end their suffering but I really don't think that's true. Some of the stuff he said while running for President sure makes him sound like a white supremacist,
"I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races - that I am not, nor ever have been, in favor of making voters or jurors of Negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe forever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And in as much as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race."
-Lincoln 1858
Oh also, I highly recommend reading this site http://www.slavenorth.com/ to learn about the northern states role in slavery and how racist the north really was during those days because it sounds like you grew up in one of the regions where they only teach a revision of history.Traffic-Out

Not surprising. History can be very complicated. There were a few black confederate sympathizers. Not a few free blacks in the South owned fellow African-Americans.Comment

All True. In fact the cartoon panal that talks about the power abuses that Lincoln pulled were exactly correct. He did all of those things.I'm no history buff but the civil war was not about abolishing slavery. Actually it really was not a Civil War, it was a war of succession. A Civil war is one where two or more groups are fighting for control of the central government. The south had no interest in running the country, they simply wanted to break off from it, as was their right in the federalist papers.
...and discussing this doesn't make anyone supportive of slavery, that's just silly

I suspect I am one of the few with a BA in history on this board....although mainstream beliefs have forever taught it was states rights...at the root of the state's rights, were state's rights to have slavery. So, I would argue, that indeed it was slavery ie states rights that the war was fought over.Comment
