Watch out, iPad: Google may be getting into the tablet game. In a move reminiscent of its recent step into mobile phone design, Google is reportedly working on its own custom Android-powered tablet.

Most of the specifics are still unknown -- what features a Google tablet would include, for example, or who would manufacture it -- but if there's one thing we can count on, it's with whom a Google-made tablet would compete.

not much of real innovation coming out from Google these days...they are turning to a Microsoft.

I am split on this. I have an iMac, Macbook and an iPad but I also have an HTC Hero and love Android. However, it has some serious problems. Google needs to work on getting Android streamlined so everyone is running the same version, not 4 different ones and they need to clean up that clusterfuck market. Of course an Android tablet would be made by HTC, this has been rumored for close to a year now and that pic is an old render. Would be next year at the earliest if they did this, I say Google fixes their OS first and then they can think about a tablet.

Competition is always good for us consumers. Maybe it will drive the price down on the iPad.
