They bust their asses for that 75k. Not saying it's not a good company to work for but those guys often work very long days.

NetHorse 04-09-2010 04:19 PM

I knew quite a few people that worked for UPS back in the day, they all said it was slave labor. I bet 75% of you guys who sit in front of your computers the majority of the day couldn't do it..:2 cents:

If you want to make real cash become a California prison guard. They are changing things now, but with OT those guys were making well over 100k. I have stories of 150 and 200 and ups. No shit.

All you need is a clean rap sheet, so you can see the problems finding someone like that in CA :1orglaugh

Last thing I want to do is guard a bunch of criminal blacks and mexicans. One little flinch and I'd be unloading whatever weapon they gave me. Not worth it...

You get benifits After 1 year and 18 months for family now!
Drivers work 12+ HOURS A DAY. You have to put in a request for an 8 hour day only!
They are firing people like crazy with insurance, and high pay! You use to have to wait 5+ years to go drive, now 6 months Max.

DaddyHalbucks 04-09-2010 06:32 PM

In this economy, that is a great salary.

It's a terrific company to work for... it's not uncommon for someone who started as a package handler, store clerk or driver to become part of top management or a franchise store owner.

lmao.......

it is not clicking with you.. all current part-time employees will be asked to fill the driver void. To replace that void people will be hired on as part timers making 7.50 hr.

A) not true. Not all positions will be filled. If you read the article 30% FAIL the training. So unless everyone not a driver is applying to be one, no way you get enough qualified applicants

B) No one at UPS make $7.50 per hour. No one make less than $12.50 an hour.

Wrong!
Starting Pay is $8.50 a hour!
I have been woring at UPS for almost 16 years

PenisFace 04-10-2010 06:35 PM

lol truck drivers make no money for at least three or four years. OTR truckers would be lucky to make 30,000 in their first year, and thats like 10-12 hours a day.

Under their most recent contract, full-time, port clerical workers earned about $37.50 an hour, or $78,000 a year. They also receive a pension, health care benefits free of premiums, and 20 paid holidays a year.

he's right. you will make about 600/wk in ur first year driving if you have a good dispatcher. you may very well make only 400/wk. new otr drivers got 25 cents a mile when i tried that shit out about 5yrs ago. quit after a few months. and you will be driving 11+hrs a day (probably more, whatever it takes to reach your delivery point)
