how many days to wait and report for a missing check?

how many days waiting for a check to arrive (international, out of the US) (not fedex or UPS) to report it as missing check and asking for a cancellation?

please help thanks

Give the sender a heads up if it has been more than 2 weeks and say you have not received the check and if it is cashed you did not cash it. After another week or so you can pretty much guarantee it is lost.

I usually request a replacement the day before the expected check arrives.
