![]() Friends,
I am a little perplexed at what to do. Before I call in the lawyers, please give me a little advice. Recently, I purchased a domain from a domain broker and transferred the domain to my domain account where all the account information is correctly maintained. When I purchased the domain, the domain went to a generic landing page selling bullshit. You have probably seen hundreds of these generic landing pages. Anyway, I built a quick and dirty website, setup the DNS and nameservers, and configured the server's IIS and NICs for the URL/IP. Now the rub..... The domain was apparently still listed on someone elses DNS and when I enter the URL, I go to an unknown IP showing an unknown page. I reconfirmed that my DNS/URL/IP were correctly configured. First, I contacted the people that sold me the domain and they said the page is not theirs; however, the generic page disappeared and a blank page appeared. I ran a tracert on the URL. I then did a reverse lookup by IP and found to whom the IP and resolving machine was registered to and did a Whois for the contact information. I sent emails to both the admin and abuse contacts on the Whois asking that they correct the problem. I got no correction and no response. The domain still goes to a blank page with an strange IP if outside my immediate network. ![]() Hmmm...... What would you do next? Suggestions would be appreciated. ![]() Thanks. |

The seller gave me a transfer code that I used to transfer the domain into my domain account if I recall correctly. This happened a month or two ago.

from the sounds of it, either you have the old dns info still cached, or your nameserver is giving out the wrong info.

![]() Had this happen to a client of mine a short while ago.
He had scooped up a domain and no matter what we did, it would still point to the previous owner's website. Called up tech support for my host and they resolved it. It's a simple nameserver conflict.

No nameservers are different after domian transferred.
Eroticsexxx, I think you are right about the nameserver conflict. |

I agree it sounds more of a tech problem than a broker/hijack issue.
