50 Howards

http://content9.flixster.com/photo/1...066299_gal.jpg I'm not proud, but I made my friends watch this movie with me....luckily, they were still my friends when it finished... |
Can't believe I missed this thread.
Yes, it was the one of the worst movies ever. What made it worse was that, in addition to Lucas being involved, it was based on a great Marvel comic spin off from a comic called "The Man Thing" before having his own issue and I think he ran for president against Jimmy Carter in 77 or whenever that was "LOL". Tried to see if any of this was mentioned and didn't see it in other posts so just thought I'd toss it out there. Apologies if someone already brought this up. |
I'm glad nobody has mentioned Goonies or Willow.
Now those are classics. |

Conan the Destroyer isn't oscar worthy, but I could watch it all day long. I fucking love Dino DeLaaurentis. Ouch, that cuts man. :( |

Yup....my first husband was considerably older than me and *hated* Goonies. I, on the other hand, was about 8 when it came out and in my heart it is one of my beloved films because of how it captured me back there. I always thought the difference was that I was the kid when it came out and he was nearly the age to be a parent and he just didn't 'get' it through the eyes of a kid. |

Lots of Cali locations for shooting, but yeah, it was supposed to take place in Cleveland. |

Aw man I loved this movie. It has been many years since I've seen it so I don't doubt it would be a bit cheesy :) I remember duck boobs from the beginning when he crashed through another duck's bathroom. hehe.

Most of the movies being mentioned in here at least have some appeal for being campy / original B-movies. These types of movies are always going to have a cult following and some nostalgic value.
The worst movies are the ones that are terrible, but offer none of the above mentioned appeal. For instance...."Gigli". I don't think you'll find any people fondly remembering that movie in a couple decades. |
I liked it, when it just came out!
|
was a good movie when i first saw it, terrible now though
|
I guess none of you saw Beat Street.
|
There are some great bad ones in here.
I would like to add to the list: Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow Kentucky Fried Movie Caddyshack 2 The Next Karate Kid Jaws 3-D Jaws 4 The Revenge Halloween 3-19 inclusive The Invention of Lying |

I haven't seen in it maybe 15 years. I am sure now it would be hard work but, yup, I watched it for Pee Wee too and I always associate that song with him now.
|
Ralph Bakshi's "American Pop" is the biggest pile of shit I've ever seen.
|
Howard the Duck comic was great, the movie sucked balls.
But there are other worse movies Transformers 1 and 2 Leonard Part 6 remake of Psycho in color (wherein criminal charges should have applied) |
I'm not in porn yet so...

ok, I am throwing this one out there. I was living in Berkeley in the late 80's, early 90's. After the earthquake of 89 and the bay bridge being shut down it was a pain in the ass to drive to the city, but, there was a Halloween all night horror movie marathon going on in some crappy theater on Market, so, my friend and I decide to make the drive (BART was out cause we were gonna stay too late to take it back). We wanted to see (the originals) Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Dawn Of The Dead, but had to sit through this shit first...
http://www.impawards.com/1988/poster...white_worm.jpg luckily my mom was into Dynasty at the time and a hot Catherine Oxenberg helped me pass the time...Hugh Grant was in that one too, by the way, in one of his first movie roles... |

Howard the Duck was AWESOME when it came out! Wasnt George Lucas involved in that somehow, produced it I think. It was on HBO a while back and I watched it from begining to end, gotta admit it was better when I was a kid. I guess the nostagila kept me in it.
I cant believe movies like Goonies and Beat Street were mentioned as bad. I will still watch and enjoy both of those from begining to end anyday. |
